Gone to Market

A little throwback post here guys; I told myself I wouldn’t let my blog become infiltrated by “wedding” posts and I think I’ve done a fair job of that so far. That being said, consider this lovely set from our engagement shoot just another outfit post among the rest.

This was the final look of our engagement shoot (going backwards here – the rest will come soon!), shot at one of our favorite little markets in DC, Union Market. We’ve been shopping here since they opened, when we were young(er) and lived a mere 3 blocks away. Four years later and we still love popping in for some afternoon shopping at Salt and Sundry or Righteous Cheese and then grabbing a drink at the outdoor bar, Suburbia. While Union Market hasn’t always been so popping it’s been made insta-famous by the murals that were put up about two years ago. Couples and singles alike have flocked to the Northeast walls for their photo op, and many have done their engagement shots here (which we had not known prior but hey, great minds think alike).

Just some inspired flatlays of le boyfrand and I’s favorite every day necesities. I love the way the hues capture the femininity and masculinity of each, and I love that we are both so partial to Viktor and Rolf. I’ve loved Flowerbomb since college and I love that I managed to turn Z onto the spicy yet musky scent of Spicebomb.

Getting Z to pose for pictures isn’t always the easiest task, and I might be biased, but damn the boy looks good. After a day of illness for us both (when there’s a drink called a “peruvian bear fucker” you should probably say no when it’s offered over and over again for free), Z finally decided to get dressed dapperly to go out to meet his friend. He pulled out all the stops; summery gingham shirt, silk tie, suspenders, and a full suit…all flawlessly matching. It’s great to date another sartorial soul, and wonderful when you get to witness him procure some perfect pairings.

A double style post! I made Z get dressed up to match me in a coastal and chambray look. These are pretty much the styles we’ll be wearing when we head out on vacation next week, but swapping my heels for sandals. Our photographer came to the shoot with a vision, and while I was hoping to shoot by the Georgetown Waterfront his intuition proved the right way to go; these shots are glamorous if I do say so myself; straight out of a French romance movie. I guess the natural chemistry helps 😛

Can’t You Be Happy With Me

Everyday do you notice that we’re never free

Last weekend I hosted my first ever mini-dinner party. We started it with a prescheduled photoshoot, and by this look everyone had had some wine and was getting involved and having fun. Nothing like some truly genuine smiles in a fabulous outfit surrounded by friends to make for some great pictures! After these shots we all went inside for some delicious food and drinks made by the beau and I. Three cheers for growing up, amiright!?

Another duo-styled post for you guys! Z is getting better about being in front of the camera, which is great; y’all have always been telling me you want to see more guy style! This post was inspired by a listening spree of The 1975 and being drawn to the lyrics of their song chocolate. I made Z go all matchy matchy with me, all black and a little bohemian with gold accessories and leathered belts. This would be cool festival style, if we weren’t in all black and too cool (read: frugal) to go to music festivals.

Another fun double-style post! The beau and I, as style savvy folks, love getting dolled up and going out on dates.
