All My Desire to What I Aspire

Rocking out in all my faves; vintage classic Gucci paired with this fab women jumpsuit I found at The Vault in Providence. Mixed with a classic gold chain belt (reminiscent of Versace or Chanel) and the of-the-moment velvet booties have me feeling like a bad biddie with some serious style.

Stripes + Silk Bomber

Weekends are for casual wear. I’ve been upgrading my wardrobe basics lately and this Everlane top is a cozy favorite. Taking a nod from the “Franco-files” I paired my stripes with a silk printed bomber, high waisted jeans, and casual sneakers to get me feeling bright and fun and ready to take on the weekend!

Gone to Market

A little throwback post here guys; I told myself I wouldn’t let my blog become infiltrated by “wedding” posts and I think I’ve done a fair job of that so far. That being said, consider this lovely set from our engagement shoot just another outfit post among the rest.

This was the final look of our engagement shoot (going backwards here – the rest will come soon!), shot at one of our favorite little markets in DC, Union Market. We’ve been shopping here since they opened, when we were young(er) and lived a mere 3 blocks away. Four years later and we still love popping in for some afternoon shopping at Salt and Sundry or Righteous Cheese and then grabbing a drink at the outdoor bar, Suburbia. While Union Market hasn’t always been so popping it’s been made insta-famous by the murals that were put up about two years ago. Couples and singles alike have flocked to the Northeast walls for their photo op, and many have done their engagement shots here (which we had not known prior but hey, great minds think alike).

White Valentine

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, guys! Whether you’re single and looking for a date, or in a relationship you’re bound to have some sort of festive gathering or date night out. I’ve teamed up with SheIn to bring you some outfit options to inspire based off of different dates that I love for the festive celebration!

This white out look is fun and trendy.  It shows that you’re not afraid to go against the grain and be yourself – perfect for a Valentine’s date at a cocktail lounge, whether your date is a blind date set up by a well-intentioned friend or your lover of a unspecified time frame. Pair it with a fun pink lip (red is too on the nose for Valentine’s day IMHO) and get ready to let loose!

Counting Down to 2017

2016 – what. a. year.

We saw many personal highs, like getting engaged, getting new jobs/promotions, expanding our circle of friends. Traveling the National Parks for their centennial celebration, horseback riding in Texas, oggling the Grand Canyon, and freezing our limbs off in Iceland (which we’re still currently doing).

We encountered numerous national lows; the tragic deaths of David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince, George Michael, Carrie Fisher…just to name a few. We watched our government go from the first black president and a wonderful family into the hands of a womanizer and his team of racists. We’ve watched terrorism thrive across the world as tensions rise among harrowed immigrants fleeing horrendous situations. We saw animals die for causes and learned how compassionate the world can be when rallying together (looking at you, Harambe Memes).

With all that has happened I am ready to put 2016 behind me and start looking forward to 2017. While scary things are afoot for our country’s economy and government, there are plenty of positives to focus on — our wedding, our honeymoon, our monthly travels we have planned (first up: Providence, Charleston, and New York City!) and mapping out the rest of our lives together. Here’s hoping for a fabulous and sparkling 2017 for us all.

Holiday Glitz

Glam holiday dressing with DC Blogger Que Sera Sahra
Christmas is upon us! And with it comes the Holiday parties and any excuse to dress up. This year it’s all about the pleated metallic skirt.

Last year’s season for our annual holiday cards we did something a little different. After a photo shoot with photographer Mark Chen in an abandoned mansion we decided to don some festive wear and get some shots in. The end result is here! I’m in love with the photos; unexpected and cool. I chose the dress because it was slightly festive with shimmering green, but also because it reminds me so much of the omnipresent AW Gucci ads’ green pleated skirt.

Favorite Position: CEO

You know when a movie just has exceptional styling? And you spend hours trying to figure out where everything is from, why it’s styled so well, who styled it, how to get similar pieces?

That was me after watching The Intern. Anne Hathaway’s character is a total Boss (even if she has some character flaws, but I won’t ruin the ending) and is always a perfect mix of classic and casual. Almost every scene showed her in wide leg, high waisted silk trousers. So you know what I did? I spent the next two weeks buying every pair of high waisted silk trousers in my size from local thrift stores. I’m not even kidding I got about 6 pairs. Mind you, I work in a very casual office so these weren’t even necessary but who cares? I’m ready to start embracing the modern CEO look! Now, I just need to start a bomb a** company and make the moolah. In the interim, here’s a fun but classic corporate look to inspire all you fellow worker bee’s to step it up in the office!

Over The River and Through The Woods

The holidays are such a lovely time; I wish we could embrace the smell of fir, the complimentary colors of the season, the fun of shopping for custom gifts for all the special people in your life. I love shopping for my loved ones so much that I actually begin shopping in the summer, burrowing away trinkets and gifts like a squirrel before hibernation.
