2016 – what. a. year.
We saw many personal highs, like getting engaged, getting new jobs/promotions, expanding our circle of friends. Traveling the National Parks for their centennial celebration, horseback riding in Texas, oggling the Grand Canyon, and freezing our limbs off in Iceland (which we’re still currently doing).
We encountered numerous national lows; the tragic deaths of David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince, George Michael, Carrie Fisher…just to name a few. We watched our government go from the first black president and a wonderful family into the hands of a womanizer and his team of racists. We’ve watched terrorism thrive across the world as tensions rise among harrowed immigrants fleeing horrendous situations. We saw animals die for causes and learned how compassionate the world can be when rallying together (looking at you, Harambe Memes).

With all that has happened I am ready to put 2016 behind me and start looking forward to 2017. While scary things are afoot for our country’s economy and government, there are plenty of positives to focus on — our wedding, our honeymoon, our monthly travels we have planned (first up: Providence, Charleston, and New York City!) and mapping out the rest of our lives together. Here’s hoping for a fabulous and sparkling 2017 for us all.
