It’s The Devil That’s Trying to Hold Me Down

I sold my soul to a three-piece
And he told me I was holy
He’s got me down on both knees

Devil's Trying to Hold Me Down

Guys. Imagine my excitement when I found a jumpsuit that fit…It’s been a point of contingence with me and shopping for a solid two years now, but I’ve finally done it. And the best part? It’s dressy enough to be able to wear with a blazer to work. WHAT? You mean we can wear jumpsuits to work?  Yes. And it’s so fab.

A jumpsuit look that works for the office

This New Year’s I opted for casual and cozy over glamorous in every aspect of the night. Wearing black and white knits with matte black champagne, I ditched all things sequin and red solo cups and opted for a night in of cards with my family and closest friends.
Hope you had a great end to 2014! Here’s to a fun and great 2015!

You Know You Like it but it Drives You Insane

I’m no fool, no, I’m not a follower
I don’t take things as they come
If they bring me down
Life can be cruel if you’re a dreamer
I just wanna have some fun
Don’t tell me what can’t be done

I’m not at NYFW, but if I was, this is probably an outfit that I’d be wearing to Lincoln Center. Statement makingly cheeky, bold and trending. The sweatshirt is soft and warm, perfect for the wintery temps, even here in The District. And to blast through my headphones? Aluna George. I first heard her on my Songza, and then noticed here belting it out for the Rebecca Minkoff FW14 runway show. it was beautiful, she was beautiful, the collection was beautiful.

In My Home: The Accent Wall

_MG_6450Hello friends and followers! Today’s post is a bit different, as I’ll be featuring my home!
Having moved around a lot in my adult years (this is my 15th spot in 6 years), I never decorated too much, though I’ve always had an eye and dream for interior decorating. Now that I’m in what appears to be a long term living situation, I figured it was time to decorate, and create a cozy and inspiring space.
My beau and I found Urban Walls on InstaGram, and immediately knew the triangle decals would be a great addition to our animal-meets-structural shapes living room! When Urban Walls reached out to do a collaboration, I knew it was meant to be. In addition to these cool triangles, Urban Walls offers on-trend giant polka dots (in TWENTY FOUR colors), perfect quoteables, and every kitschy or cute shape you can think of!

Maven clearly decided to do his part in helping as I prepared to set up our accent wall…20131108-105417.jpg
I especially love these decals as they were so easy I was able to set them up one afternoon completely on my own; Easy as cut, stick, and peel! Bing, Bang, Boom and two hours later I had myself a wall that attracted the eye and accented the other elements of the room._MG_6302I have OCD, I admit, but more recently I’ve been trying to live by the “a home should be collected not decorated” mentality, which is also an exceptional mentality to have when cohabitating! Our home is a lovely mix of old and new, modern and vintage, art…The wall decals are a perfect addition to tie it all together! Color plays a big role in the theme of our living room, primarily a bold red hue, which makes quite a pop against the black-on-white decals._MG_6323_MG_6315

Wearing:
Banana Republic top
Iro Paris blazer from TARI
Baker’s heels
Necklace c/o Satya Jewlery

_MG_6387  _MG_6449I love our coffee table; a mix of culture and things we both love including fashion, poetry, a marble chess set, and an array of scented candles for whatever mood we may be in. Everything is set up with a gallery wall of animal themed images, and the couch plays  around with DIY pillows of shapely animals from Ikea fabric._MG_640720131108-105348.jpgWhat do you think of our home? How would YOU decorate an accent wall to tie it in to your own home?

Be sure to check out Urban Walls and let the inspiration flow!  Seriously, their InstaGram is a hub of interior design inspo for ANY Style or person!

Another Long Winter Trying to Fight this Freeze

Waiting on the cold’s got a hold on me
a hold on me

Baby, it’s COLD outside! Here in the north east it’s been a steady ten degrees Fahrenheit for a couple of days now and all I have to say is praise the gods for Uniqlo’s HeatTech, I honestly don’t know how I survived before I discovered with almost 3 years ago…This heat generating line features Japanese technology in light weight basics which are perfect for looking effortlessly chic in these below freezing temps.

Classy Gal

One of my favorite things about myself is my versatility. Today, I flipped my hair, covered the shaved bit, threw on a more conservative summer dress and some sparkly jewelries, and called it a day. This alter ego is usually reserved for job interviews, important meetings, or court (oh, parking tickets), but today I just felt like being a little classier.

It’s funny how society can view and treat you differently based on your aesthetic sometimes…Scratch that, most of the time. If you’ve been following anything on the news lately, though, you may have seen the handsome mohawked man landing a robot on Mars, and that really got me thinking about how the times they are a-changing. So, for a good read if you’re curious or into the rebellious look but want to keep your job, please head on over to FemInspire and give my latest article a read!
