Recipe Monday: Lazy Man’s Lasagna

A great characteristic to have in life is adaptability. In this week’s recipe, we created our own lasagna!

Ingredients you will need:

1 egg

Parmesian cheese

Ricotta cheese

Any type of pasta you prefer

Pasta sauce

Asiago cheese

Parsely/oregano/salt/ other spices you prefer

Begin by cooking the pasta. While that is cooking, mix your ricotta with 1 egg and the spices and parsley. Once the pasta is thoroughly cooked you can begin your layering for the lasagna.

In a large casserole pan, begin with a layer of sauce, followed by a layer of pasta, a layer of ricotta spread, a layer of sauce. REPEAT. Repeat until to the top of the pan or until you’ve utilized all of your supply. My family and I went a little overboard and had to make an extra bit in a bread pan.

Top with the asiago cheese, then bake at 350 degrees for an hour or so, until the top is golden brown.

Let cool and enjoy, especially with some Texas Toast or garlic bread!

Featured: A Whole Buncha Nothin’s Favorite Blogs

Nyasia of AWholeBunchaNothin has featured me, alongside some amazing other bloggers, as one of her top three favorites! I feel so honored!

The other two: Kenza of Sweden, and my own GirlCrush, BillyTilly!

Be sure to check out Nyasia’s fashion blog! She’s an adorable model and blogger who I worked with on two occasions and is a total sweetheart!

Awkward Faces

My brother is my photographer when I’m visiting my parents’. This is good, because he understands composition and exposure and fancy camera stuff like that; he NEVER complains not matter how many times a day I ask him to grab the camera and press the buttons; he’s pretty much the best 15 year old brother a girl could ask for. Also, he snaps a photo pretty much every single SECOND. I mean, this is good since he can catch random more candid shots. Or, you know, he catches all the hideous goofball faces I make in between posing. On this cold, post blizzard day it looks like he captured the most hiedous faces. But it’s okay, I don’t mind sharing with y’all!

Fall Neutrals

One day while my friend Aleia was still visiting and we had nothing to do we went adventuring to Central Park. That place is a maze, and I can never remember where my favorite spots are until I happen to chance upon them and be like “oh, yea! this is the place with the waterfall!”. Besides rediscovering said waterfall and creek (pictures below), I found this adorably shrubbed, fenced walkway with gravel going right behind a baseball field. It was the perfect place to take photos that look like you’re somewhere MUCH more country. Sadly, the sun was setting all too brightly.

It was a great day, perfect for walking in the park, but got chilly by 5pm so I headed home, but not before taking some more pictures of the scenery, and a few of my dear friend!

NYC Fashion Bloggers Exclusive Event

So, some of you may know about this little group, and some of you may not. Last February I met two lovely ladies at the Independent Fashion Blogger’s convention in NYC. At the after party at the Chelsea Hotel, we realized we were the only attendees from the NY Metro area. We decided to meet for brunch the next day (Blogger Brunch anyone?) where our creative minds went wild.

We knew there were many fashion bloggers in NYC and thought it would be cool to find a way to meet them, go shopping together, go to events together…and thus, the NYC Fashion Blogger’s MeetUp Group was born.

Since then we’ve had some great events for our members from trunk shows, to fashion shows, to store openings and line previews. The group has grown into something the three of us couldn’t have imagined. Now, five months later, we teamed up with Women’s Mafia to create an exclusive event for 25 of our bloggers. With Arrojo Salons doing hair, make up, and eyelashes, Svedka vodka on drinks, Lora Condon reading excerpts from her best selling book Spa Wars (and supplying us with signed copies!), J Rudy Lewis giving us pieces from his jewelry collection, and Pop Up Studio taking fun pictures! It was quite the opposite of humbling to Yanil, Monroe, and I as we watched our baby of a group hit the highest of it’s peak.

So, if you’re a member of IFB and a blogger from the NY Metro area (we take New Jersey too!) feel free to check out the group, request to join, and I hope to meet you soon!! Also, if you’re form NY and looking to add some fun/spice/etc to your gathering, event or party, I fully advise Pop Up Studio…they even supply props!

For now, though, we bid you adieu.

Fashion Friends, Fleas, and French Food

Sunday I met up with a few of my NYC Fashion Blogger friends to hit up the famed Williamsburg, Brooklyn Flea Market. It was however, my third week in a row there, so I just perused my favorite booths and added my two cents into the other girls’ purchases and potentials. We lounged around for a bit on the gorgeous waterfront which is coincidentally my second favorite view in all of New York City.

As fashion bloggers, we took a substantial amount of pictures of each other, so the images all link back to each blogger’s blog!

After walking around followed by relaxing, we headed to a late brunch down Bedford Ave at an amazing french restaurant. We all had some sort of delicious plate, and then were surprised by a dessert tasting! My favorite is the creme brulee, though the chocolate mousse was decadently rich like a thick fudge and the seasoned fruit cake melted in your mouth.

Mmmm….fancy, delicious, AMAZING creme brulee! Now for the fashion; What I Wore:

Forever 21 crop top

Vintage maxi skirt

DB sandals

Peter Grimm hat

Vintage cross body bag

Work and Play

Saturday was a day of both work and play. As some of you may know, I’m a coordinator for the New York Fashion Blogger Meet Up Group. The other coordinators and I, as well as top IFB bloggers and other members of our group attended the Blogger Closet Raid held at the Tribeca Grand Hotel. I had just spent my Friday shopping, but once I found Nitrolicious, all plans to “not spend” went down the drain. Having and amazing shoe collection, ALL in my size, ranging from Jessica Simpson to Jeffrey Campbells to Louboutin’s it was like her set up was curated specifically for me. Though I wish I could have indulged in the crystal encrusted Louboutin’s and Xanadu fur JC’s, I knew I needed to think realistically…and then I found the Jessica Simpson moto boots. I’ve been scouring the internet and shops for the perfect studded moto boots to add to my collection, and when I stumbled upon these for their low price there was no WAY I could say no. The following few images were taken by Monroe of Fashion Steele NYC.

After the raid-fest and saying hello to good friends, it was time to get down to work. Monroe, Yanil and I decided to dine and chat at the Tribeca Grand’s lounge, which was full of attractive attentive staff and delicious drinks, as well as coffee and food according to my counterparts.

I hope they don’t mind that I made myself at home on their chairs!

As you can see I’m completely smitten with my new purchase. I’m also ecstatic that my ombre manicure if still going strong, since nail colors usually don’t last long on me due to chipping and such.

Girl Crush: Alice Point

Again, with another Polish girl, man these girls have style! Alice Point is a blogger and now a collaborative designer, from Poland. Her style? Totally rock n’ roll meets backstage runway. And I’m so happy to have found her. There’s not much else to say, though, so here’s a few images from her blog :

She kind of makes me want to party and get drunk and be fearless…Total lust. She seems to consistently rock some of my favorite brands like Wild Fox Couture and Blackmilk, mixed in with alternates.

Satya Jewelry

As previously stated, Thursday I was invited to the Satya Jewelry Blogger event with the New York Fashion Bloggers. I was greeted by the lovely and hospitable Christina and handed some champagne while I perused the collection.

Satya Jewelry is a great line of yoga inspired and spiritual jewlery as well as stones and other great pieces. The designers are adorable and hip, and their shop is located in a fabulous section of Tribeca on North Moore street. All of their pieces are of high quality; 100% silver, sterling silver, and gold, which makes them moderately priced, but perfect.

I picked up a few pieces for myself as well as some gifts for the notable ladies around me. I’ll post images of those another time, but for now enjoy! and be sure to check out Satya’s site HERE. Or, if you live in NYC they have a few locations, one being right in Grand Central Station!
