New York, You Set My Heart on Fire

I moved to NYC in 2007. I’ve been here ever since (with a few short stints in MA which don’t count because I lived out of my suitcase).

I love this place; there’s always something to do, so many unique people, and its ever inspiring. Though someday I may leave for the west coast (these 12 degree days are killing me) I think I’ll always have a home here. The skyline forever makes my heart skip beats and it never loses it’s novelty, even after these four and a half years.

Fall Pinks and Browns

It’s finally feeling somewhat like fall…somewhat being it’s mid-October and still comfortable outside in a tee shirt. Okay, it’s hardly fall at all. But each breath has that fall air. The leaves are FINALLY beginning to change their shades and fall to litter our sidewalks. Evenings require a light jacket or sweater. Pumpkins are filling the deli’s. It’s exciting. All I want to do is go on long walks, listening to Death Cab for Cutie and the crunching of leaves.

One of my favorite things about NYC is the street vendor scarves. $5 a pop gets you a pashmina-silk scarf that’s surprisingly warm and durable. OR you can get 5 for $20…I always get one for my friends and family as an extra add on to Christmas gifts!

Also, I know a lot of people are still complimenting my “anti-french” manicure, and I’m still loving it each day. Point in case, the faint purple shade was a perfect match to the tonal stripes of this top!

Lower East Side

The weekend has taken new meaning to me since I have the normal 9-6 job now (weekdays actually ending around 8 due to classes). This weekend in particular was supposed to be busy doing final projects and studying…instead, I got drunk for two days straight.

Saturday I woke up in need of some brunch, so my roommate and I fancified ourselves and headed to the Lower East Side, to this delicious place, Sebastian. We started our morning there with a lovely bottle of Rose and mimosas.

After brunch, we shopped around in the hopes of finding an open fabric store to actually do my homework, but instead we found cute dresses and a mop pup!

We bar hopped for most of the day Saturday, and I had my first ever Bloody Mary…Which I did not like. We dined at Sebastian again for dinner, and everyone at the table raved about the steak, while the Penne with tomato and basil I had was honestly divine. I do suggest the restaurant for a lovely french date!

Independent Fashion Blogger Conference Day 2

IFB selected a few (what I thought would be 50 but was really 20) bloggers to attend a second day of the conference.  Due to the exclusivity the entire day was much more intimate feeling. The day was devoted to three workshops and held on the top floor of the fancy-pants Standard Hotel, with spectacular views, comfortable leather seating, and perrier, coffee, glass bottled soda, and fruits and vegetables to sack on.  Right on the Hudson River, this location, plus the rare February sun, made the whole experience that much more enjoyable and refreshing.

The first workshop was run by Gala Darling, who I’ve followed on BlogLovin’ and twitter. She’s rare unique blogger, who’s also very real and authentic, my kind of lady. Her collaborative discussion was the most informative and thought provoking of them all. Gala discussed how to set your blog apart, increase viewers, expand….I took a lot out of the workshop and am very excited to start implementing some new ideas.

The second and third workshop focused on business and everything I’ve been learning in school, so not particularly enthralling to me.

The girls, much closer and, as I mentioned intimate, were all friendly and talkative. LOVING Sivan of My Urban Runway ‘s accesories and glitter ombre nails here.
