Picnic in the Park

One of my favorite things about warm weather is grabbing a spot under a tree by some grass for an afternoon picnic. I remember when Z and I were first dating and we’d take a day off to sit in the grass on the national mall and people watch, enjoying our young love.
Lucky for us, we’re still in love and still love heading to a grassy spot. With the perfect picnic basket full of cheese, charcuterie, crackers, and wine I’m ready for an afternoon of fun in the sun with our bests!

Denim Duty

Last weekend Z and I fled our city abode, heading South for about two hours. A quick getaway from the Nation’s Capital we settled into a weekend in Richmond, full of great food, wonderful art (of the museum kind as well as street kind), and exceptional thrift shopping. While you wait for my full weekend tour, here’s a peak at what I wore for our one full day in this State Capital.

I Can’t Feel My Face

Layered Winter Street Style with DC Blogger Sahra

This weekend we had our first real taste of the impending winter. I woke up on Sunday to a mere 34°…BUH BUH BURRRR. I literally can’t feel my face in, like, half of these photos. I knew I had wanted to shoot these jeans but deemed the planned white off-the-shoulder top as officially unseasonable. Instead it was time to break out the turtlenecks, leather accessories, and the many layers of HeatTech and go meet with my new photographer Mark who as you can see is amazing.

These jeans are my new favorite! I’d actually been wearing some serious bell-bottoms I’d had since the 7th grade. I told Z that as soon as I bought a new, upgraded, adult pair. When I walked into Madewell they called to me…high waisted (as opposed to my hip-slung pair of yester-year), deep saturated indigo color, and the perfect shape for my body and I was sold. I’ve worn my Flea Market Flares everywhere, and always feel fabulous in them. Also, they make my butt look great so that’s a perk too.

I Think I Like You But It’s Complicated

I want it all to remind me of the first time
Willing to fall into forever if I think it feels right

date night for the edgy gal

Leather, spikes, studs. Edgy style personifies me so when new DC boutique Rosies and Rockers approached me to work with them I knew we’d be a perfect match. Reminiscent of my adolescent days of growing up trying to shop in Hot Topic (and my mother forcing me to return my purchases the following day), but with a glamorous feel of sexy body hugging and diamond accents, I chose pieces that reflected my versatile style. Perfect for a hot date night out, all this dress needs is the right accessories and some vampy lipstick.

We Know That Our Hearts Are Just Made Out of Strings

IMG_7744IMG_7755
A second post from the whirlwind that has been my settling into life in the DMV! It’s been tedious…It’s been work. I’ve been unpacking, working, traveling, trying my best to explore and socialize, et cetera. What I’m craving most? A nice, relaxing evening involving a chill bean bag (remember those!?) and a movie with a bottle of wine, or a champagne cocktail. Alas, there’s much to be explored as I’m on the hunt for the perfect blog photographer, group of friends, brunch restaurant, lunch spot, dinner diggs, quality man; amongst maintaining my life at my new “home” with friends and new job. Confused/overwhelmed? So am I. These photos were shot by an area photographer, Kevin, who’s work can be found on his site here. He’s got a great eye and some great ideas, so I’m hoping you’ll be seeing more of his work up here!
