Self Date Sunday: Chesapeake Beach Salon + Spa

It’s winter; the harsh cold and winds have our skin dry, lacking vitamins and moisture, our face’s whiplashed into flakes. While at-home spa treatments (and the thought of the low temperatures keeping you from wanting to leave your house) can be effective, there’s nothing quite like getting yourself out and getting the professional treatment. When I was approached by local CB Salon + Spa to come in for a relaxation day I was ecstatic. I took a day trip to the scenic beach side town (really, there’s nothing so heart-thumping as seeing the sea side, even in 25 degree temps) and indulged myself.

After changing out of my cold weather layers and into the quintessential fuzzy robe it was time to begin. I headed into a red lit chamber where I lay undressed in a shallow tub. I received what the CB Spa calls the “vichy scrub”; a full body exfoliating scrub and rinse which eliminates dry skin and soothes it with warm water and lavender soap and moisturizer. HELLO HEAVEN.

Next up it was time for my facial. I relaxed with soothing sounds, layers (and I mean layerS) of exfoliates, lotions, and warm towel wraps immersed in massaging shoulders. It was bliss. And all of a sudden it was three hours later; time flies by when you’re eyes are closed and your body is getting it’s highest form of self-date love.

Fresh faced and smooth bodied I reluctantly made my way to the beverage bar and on to the changing room to return to the real world, not ready to confront the freezing world outside. Thankfully, my body stayed smooth for days after, and my face literally glowed (as compliments at work let on).

More about the Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa: it’s one of the top wedding destinations on the Eastern Shore (meaning if you’re getting married and want a gorgeous white-sand beach without the trip to the Bahamas, you can head there) (not that I’m looking either but hey), and the salon gets pretttty crazy around wedding season, Mother’s Day, and other warm-weather holidays. With such generous and exceptional staff, it’s hard not to want to treat yourself and those you love to such luxury.

Have you ever had a spa day? If you’re a DC/MD/VA resident I highly suggest the day trip to Chesapeake Beach for the salon; it’s worth the trip and the exiting of the city for the relaxing sea side!

Event: TARI x FADGeorgetown

booth32So, like I previously mentioned, I’ve been hard at work for the past month or so working on an event for my current job. Well, last Friday night was the moment of truth. It was pouring rain; I mean POURING. The store had minimal foot traffic all day and by 5pm my nerves were a mess as the T-Time loomed closer. Would anyone show up? Would we make any sales? Would we even achieve a “party” atmosphere? I was a wreck.

While we got off to a semi-late start, the party picked up and my nerves were eased. Bloggers, media, and shoppers alike wandered into my store, taking the eCruiser straight to our door. Everyone gawked at the bumping soiree, while other events were canceled or subpar. It was an overwhelming experience, knowing all my hard work had paid off and then some.

Booth4 Booth7 booth28 booth35 booth38The fashionable event was hosted by E of District of Chic and Krystin of BeLoudBeYou, two fabulously sweet and oh so stylish local DC bloggers I’m so happy to have had the chance to work with. Ofcourse, the TARI team was there including our owner, manager, and operations manager, Tamika of MyDesignerDreams. With complimentary cupcakes, tea, and cocktails, as well as sweet tunes by my friend Caleb L’ Etoile and the lovely photobooth images by my friend Brian, not to mention my beau and his BFF Twinning and Bartending, there was plenty of fun to be had!

I wore an H&M dress with H&M booties, instead of my planned cream and white Erin Fetherston dress with cream platform pumps…somehow black seemed much more fitting for the weather, so no regrets.

Feel free to check out the rest of the event photos here, and be sure to ‘Like’ the TARI page! groupAtBar sahrazanderwill2

Event: AnthomLive

20130822-103622.jpg20130822-103604.jpgThird times a charm when it came to me and DC events. I’d felt like Goldilocks and The Three Bears; my first event was a “Fall Fashion Preview” which was nothing special. The shop that hosted it went about business as usual, no one attended, there was no special set up.
My second event was the BirchBox and Ann Taylor ReadySetFinished event hosted by ALaceyPerspective; this event was chaos, with a line snaking around the building and entrants fighting over the free champagne and snacks. Shoulder to shoulder with strangers, me being alone, I panicked.
Now, given my previous experiences I had been SO NERVOUS to attend the ShopAnthom event. Thankfully, a coworker and new friend, Tamika, took me under her wing, attempting to introduce me to area bloggers. It was a perfect atmosphere, the type of event I was used to in NYC. Attendees were of the stylish persuasion, not the force fed magazine copied fashions. There was ambient lighting, cocktails, flowing set up, and friendly people catching up.20130822-103513.jpg20130822-103542.jpg20130822-103647.jpgThe set up included discounts off of their covetable online wears, from shoes to apparel. They carried one of my favorite Aussie brands, Finder’s Keeper’s, and I kept finding myself being drawn to the brand’s neon splatter silk trousers. I was also able to discover and fall in love with another Aussie brand, Cameo, who’s designs range from drapey dresses to exceptionally structured silhouettes. Everything was on trend in an elegant contemporary way; from crisp whites, wide mesh, and flowing chiffon. It was love, and it took a lot of restraint to not spend 100s of dollars.
All in All, it was a great event and I’m so happy to have gone!20130822-103946.jpg20130822-104007.jpgDon’t Forget to enter my giveaway to win a CUSTOM monogram necklace HERE!
