I Dress Like a New Yorker

NYFW Street Style on DC Blogger Que Sera Sahra
The time has come again for the bi-annual pilgrimage of fashionistas to the holy grail of heavenly style…New York.

If you’ve been following me for a while you know that I no longer attend; I watch the shows online and steer clear of the 18 hour days. I’m getting too old for that ish and I had my fill during my teenage and early 20’s. Still, though, I maintain my personal style and the streets of DC have become my omnipresent personal NYFW. I’m not out here in the ubiquitous pattern play of a thousand styles, but I’m doing my thing. I LOVE NYFW, don’t get me wrong, and the street style is something so unique in itself. But with these frigid February temps I’m happy to be watching from the warmth of my office checking out the street wear and recaps from other bloggers I love (shoutout to the DC Gals over there representing this week-> Primp&Proper, Southern Anchors, and The Black Blazer! )

Simple Summer

Simple summer look. I’m currently packing to leave for my annual Maine beach vacation, and leaving tomorrow so I’ve got my work ahead of me! I’ve also started writing and working on a few new projects so it’s a lot of days of me sitting in front of my laptop in shorts and a tank top. Like this oldie but goodie H&M tank, Forever 21 shorts, and CG flats from Barami.

I’m Froze by Desire, No Need to Leave

Please excuse the poor quality of these images, I’m not sure what has happened. But, I felt cute in this outfit; a play on of the exposed collar with a shrunken sweater.

Also, it is freaking cold here in NYC. I might die soon, just as a warning.

Keeping it Real

YAY! My first outfit post from my Maine vacation!

If you haven’t noticed, I don’t edit my photos. I rarely use photoshop outside of school projects, so what you see is what you get when it comes to my blog. In these images, I’m keeping it even more real. Since being on vacation I’ve applied my make up maybe ONCE. There’s not much need when all you go is down to the ocean every morning, then shower off the sand to cuddle and watch TV/movies.

Last Day in NYC

My last night in NYC for two weeks and I spent it with some of my closest friends drinking margaritas and chatting about summer adventures. My last day I spent procrastinating some packing, grabbing lunch with some friends, then off to my favorite neighborhood thrift store, Atlantis Attic.

Next time I post you’ll be reading all about my July 4th weekend! Enjoy 😀

DIY Slouchy Clutch

I’ve been feeling creative lately and been dying to create something using this greyscale “fuck” fabric my roommate had lying around. With the laptop clutch craze going around, I decided that’s what I needed.

Next, was the hunt for the perfect sized, shade, and priced zipper. I ended up at B&Q Trimmings on 38th street, which was sooo much cheaper in everything than M&J and also much more helpful! Safe to say I’ll be going back for all my trimmings and non-fabric needs.

Now, for the pictures: I started by cutting the fabric, sewing the bottom and parts of the sides, then sewing the zipper on.

Maven got in the way a little. It came out alright; I forgot I hadn’t sewn anything since I was 18 but it was great to get back on a machine. Then, I modeled it in what I wore for the day!

As you can see I have some BRIGHT new hair, done by my good friend and soon to be recent beauty school graduate, Sarah. She’s amazing and had done my hair before when I had the red with blonde ! 😀

Enjoy, and hopefully there will be more DIY’s to come.
