I’m Just The Same As I Was Back Then

Casual Saturday comfy look. Pre-cold front and waterfires. Ya digg? I’ve been aesthetically lazy. This “dip dyed” “ombre” hair? Completely accidentally. I’ve been too lazy to bleach my hair since, like, February, but this is growing on me. ALOT. Is it wrong to think I rock it as well as Alice Dellal?

We’re Running Just as Fast as We Can

Fun summer look I wore to a sushi lunch. I’m loving the splatter effect with the perfectly on trend neon colors. I kept the theme going with a hot pink bag, pink lips, and neon green nails. Yea, NEON.

Laid Back Sequins

If you know me then you know I watch a lot of the Disney channel (for “style” purposes). I noticed in the previews for the new show Shake It Up Bella Thorne wearing a black sequined sweatshirt with plain sleeves…I was digging it. Then I saw Hannah Montana wearing the same one but in gray. I fell in love.

(LtoR) J. Crew, Michael Kors, Guess, Vince

Upon doing some research I’ve found a few results. G by Guess has one in Black, as well as purple (and gray, but the gray has their obnoxious logo all over it) for a modest $45. J. Crew has a wonderfully cream colored jearsey sweatshirt in the same style for $168. Vince, however, has a great looking gray fleece one for sale, for a higher price tag of $275, and can only be purchased at Nordstrom stores or online. If you want to go for name brand, I suggest the nearly $400 priced Michael Kors sweatshirt.

After falling in love with sequined sweatshirts I then stumbled upon sequined baseball tees. Nothing says laid back and cool like a baseball tee and with the added sequin pocket  it’s just that more chic. The company with the best? Son Of John. you can easily find these burn out shirts on Ebay for $107-$110

I also think these could be an easy DIY project. Maybe something I can try sometime, or you can try it! IF anyone does, I’d love to see pictures!

Anyway, go out there in a chic sequined sweater and look effortless cool; rock it!

Mess with Mesh

This may be about a year late, but another trend I see being brought back to life is the semi-mesh dress. I first saw these dresses at American Apparel in a slew of great colors from neutral to neon.

Then, on a trip to Screaming Mimi’s (notoriously fabulous vintage store on Lafayette St. in NYC) I found at least 4 semi-meshed dresses from the 80’s. Ah, LOVE.

The designer is Roulette, and their vintage dresses are popping up all over Ebay and other vintage/thrift boutiques.

Moving on, if you’re a Gossip Girl lover like me you may have noticed Serena’s semi-sheer and lace get up on this weeks episode. The Design? Stella McCartney circa Fall 2009. Still, its gorgeous and seemingly timeless, and Blake Lively has been seen wearing similar dresses from the designer’s line in the same mesh-y style.

Bebe and Guess Spring/Summer 2010

This past season, Rodarte had a lot of semi sheer and sheer over layer pieces in their collection, as did BCBG and Bebe.

All these designers have amazing designs, but the true reinventer of the mesh look was Alexander Wang. His iconic intricately designed mesh dress has been seen on some of the top fashionista’s including Rihanna, Amber Rose, Megan Fox, and many more of the fashion elite.

Many designers have tried to do their own versions of this dress since then, including House of Holland and Luella, but nobody can recreate something so impeccably perfect.

Now, why do I love this trend? You can show some skin while staying classy and warm! its perfect for a brisk spring night when you can’t decide over long sleeves or short.
