Chenoa

Holy Toledo it’s humid (as you can tell by my frizzled hair)! I’ve been slightly sick and staying indoors as best I can but the warmth is so nice outside. Just, the humidity… Oh, we’re starting August off on the right foot! Thankfully, I’m wearing the most perfect summer dress, lightweight and comfortable, and totally on trend with it’s tribal print and hi-low/mullet skirt!

Heat Wave

Back in the city that is my church, at long last. All is going well, save for a minor mishap of falling on my head. Also, let’s state the obvious, IT’S SO HOT. I wore this outfit Wednesday to a few meetings, hair up and staying cool. On hot days like this you NEED to protect your eyes from the sun, and why not with a stylish pair of sunglasses? SmartBuyGlasses offers great prices on amazing brands, including my favorite, Ray Bans! Similar to the ones I’m wearing in this post, these white wayfarers are a great summer pick. Other great brands they offer? D&G, Prada, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and everything else you could ever want, so be sure and check them out (and save 25%-30%!)

Dad’s Sweater

Ever since I was about 4 years old I’ve pondered the letters and design of this sweater. I may never know, but it will always be a nostalgic piece for me. I wore this out on a very unsuccessful trip to the local thrift store. If you follow me on my twitter you may have noticed that I found a gorgeous sheer maxi. Brought it to the counter, it was rang up, bagged, everything. Smile on my face. Then, the credit card machine was down. WOMP WOMP WOMP.

Also I literally CANNOT STOP wearing this Covergirl lipstick of my mom’s. It goes with my hair and is just dark enough to give me the right amount of edge without being overpowering.

My Week on Instagram

A peak into my life via my InstaGram, and a few candid iPhone shots from the past week of my life.

As you can see I’ve dyed my hair! While helping my sister do hers with a dye job and some bright highlights, I decided to go back to bright red, a la last April, with some mermaid-esque purple lowlights! They’re perfectly subtle, in my opinion. What are your thoughts?

BatGirl

This dress is my new favorite dress. $9.95 at H&M it was quite the steal! It’s velvet body and drapey sheer sleeves and wings screamed my name. size 6 and slightly big? I didn’t care. It was MINE.

I wore this on a two-party night and my ensemble was well received. I honestly want to wear it everyday, though, and it’s going to be quite a challenge not to!

When It’s Too Cold To Leave The House

DAMN it’s cold out. 16 degrees? No thanks, not unless I absolutely NEED to venture outside.

So what did I do inside all day? I learned how to do a french twist and attempted to recreate Lady GaGa’s hair from the dance rehearsal portion of her “Marry The Night” music video. Threw on a little white eye shadow, cat eye liner, and vampy red lips and had myself a mini photoshoot of sorts in my bathroom!

I know it’s not the best, but I’m thinking I could practice till it’s perfect!

Thoughts?

NYFW Day 1, Part 2: Arrojo 10th Anniversary Party

During Joe Zee’s keynote speech at the IFB Conference, I made a dash for the bathroom to quickly change into a more suitable party ensemble for the rest of the night. The first stop was the 10th Anniversary party for Arrojo salons.

Walking in I notice Tatum, the lovely (and might I add, attractive) man who cut my hair at the last Arrojo event I attended was spinning as the DJ as the place swarmed with fashionable and awesomely tressed guests. I ran into Kimberly of Can I get a What What again, as well as seeing Keiko, and many of my NYC Fashion Blogger friends. As previously stated, my tousled locks stayed all night, thanks to KMS California.

Nick Arrojo VJ’d for a bit, talking about his fond memories of the beginnings of his now famed company. He spun a few oldies hits, then came to dance with us ladies, and “backing dat azz up” with Ashley and taking goofy pictures with all of us.

For this portion of my day I wore a gifted dress from Francesca’s Collection, along with my moto boots. I had originally planned to wear my Lady GaGa second skin platforms, but I hadn’t had enough to drink and was in too much pain to wear them for hours.

Stay tuned for part three of NYFW Day 1, and then FNO!

Classy Rock

I bought this coveted dress from Zara for Easter, but have had difficulty trying to make it more my style for day wear. Then, it hit me. Throw on my Forever 21 black and metal zipper belt with some DB sandals, and my favorite bracelet! I wore this to work and I must say, I felt more in love with this dress than I have at all since April!

And that is how I turned a more conventional, classic dress into more of a rocker look!

And By The Sea is Where I Thrive

While on vacation in Maine I couldn’t JUST relax the whole time! I did a few photoshoots! Here’s some images from a beach-y shoot with photographer, Kyle Burnell!

NYC Fashion Bloggers Exclusive Event

So, some of you may know about this little group, and some of you may not. Last February I met two lovely ladies at the Independent Fashion Blogger’s convention in NYC. At the after party at the Chelsea Hotel, we realized we were the only attendees from the NY Metro area. We decided to meet for brunch the next day (Blogger Brunch anyone?) where our creative minds went wild.

We knew there were many fashion bloggers in NYC and thought it would be cool to find a way to meet them, go shopping together, go to events together…and thus, the NYC Fashion Blogger’s MeetUp Group was born.

Since then we’ve had some great events for our members from trunk shows, to fashion shows, to store openings and line previews. The group has grown into something the three of us couldn’t have imagined. Now, five months later, we teamed up with Women’s Mafia to create an exclusive event for 25 of our bloggers. With Arrojo Salons doing hair, make up, and eyelashes, Svedka vodka on drinks, Lora Condon reading excerpts from her best selling book Spa Wars (and supplying us with signed copies!), J Rudy Lewis giving us pieces from his jewelry collection, and Pop Up Studio taking fun pictures! It was quite the opposite of humbling to Yanil, Monroe, and I as we watched our baby of a group hit the highest of it’s peak.

So, if you’re a member of IFB and a blogger from the NY Metro area (we take New Jersey too!) feel free to check out the group, request to join, and I hope to meet you soon!! Also, if you’re form NY and looking to add some fun/spice/etc to your gathering, event or party, I fully advise Pop Up Studio…they even supply props!

For now, though, we bid you adieu.
