Paris Nights and New York Mornings

Flirty and Feminine in pleated champagne skirt on Que Sera Sahra

It’s been oddly chilly lately; temps are almost sweater necessitating, even though it’s mid-july. I’m dreaming of Paris Nights and New York Mornings….and Fashion Weeks’ just around the corner. I’m craving summer feeling but also warmth, so a cropped knit with a perfect pleated skirt is the outfit option of choice. There’s something “Carrie Bradshaw” esque about this look; it’s cosmopolitan, and not like the drink, and the “cigarette burned” sweater adds the right amount of downtown edge to the flirty and feminine pleats. Topped off with kitschy sunglasses and I’m ready to brave the city for a day of meetings and errands. This is the first set in a “wear two ways” series, so be sure to check back to see what item I spin in an opposite style!

The Fleeting Sense of Love Within

I’m going home since you’ve awakened her again
She depends on you, she depends on you

Que Sera Sahra in The Girl That Loves

As you recal, I recently went on a big tour of some NYC showrooms and studios, my first stop having been The Girl That Loves Showroom. This is my second look I put together there! I chose to pair this trending orchid hued skirt with a pastel printed crop top and ballet flats. We added some fresh flowers into the mix for a dash more femininity. Defining life moment: modeling a tulle skirt a la Carrie Bradshaw in a Manhattan window in the sky. Twas a good day, so be sure you follow me and stay tuned for more to come!

I wish that I could be like the cool kids

They’re driving fast cars
But they don’t know where they’re going
In the fast lane
Living life without knowing

Trend I’m loving now? Lingerie in the real world. I’d pondered how to delve into this look in a classy way; not trashy or skanky, but edgy and put together, and true to my personal style. When I layered my negligee beneath a cozy loose knit sweater, I knew it was a match made in sartorial heaven. Adding an on-trend fringe bag and bohemian jewels pulled the look to Que Sera Sahra standards.

Dressed in Black from Head to Toe

Another duo-styled post for you guys! Z is getting better about being in front of the camera, which is great; y’all have always been telling me you want to see more guy style! This post was inspired by a listening spree of The 1975 and being drawn to the lyrics of their song chocolate. I made Z go all matchy matchy with me, all black and a little bohemian with gold accessories and leathered belts. This would be cool festival style, if we weren’t in all black and too cool (read: frugal) to go to music festivals.

I Just Want the Simple Things

I don’t want a model
I don’t want a movie star
You don’t have to win the lotto
I want you to win my heart

Some people don’t know this, but there are lazy days for fashion bloggers. Days you’d rather be comfortable than ultra chic. Jeans and cozy cardigan days. And on those days, there are sneaker wedges. Yes, I’m still a fan of this trend. A dash of sporty and the feel of a heel are perfect for the edgy lady that I am. As for the tonal reds and neutrals; reds are still a very new thing for me, as an ex-redhead. But the mild peplum and the coziest of wool have been some great additions to my wardrobe. Outfits like this are perfect for lounging, enjoying sips and snacks, sunshine. Speaking of food; I’m a major foodie. You’d know this if you’re following me on InstaGram! I love cooking for my boyfriend and friends, indulging in some cheeseplates, or fancy risotto. I love using quality ingredients, whether that be fresh cheese from Union Market, veggies from the farmer’s market, or Black Truffles from Fine Food Specialist.  YUM. Do you like have casual days with fancy food?

You Make My Heavy Metal Heart Beat

You turn my red to black
I’m never coming back
The way I was before
I’m not her anymore

This little lady-rocker blogger wore this look to the CappFABB 3rd anniversary party a few weeks ago! I wanted to wear something that encapsulated my personal style, as I knew I’d be meeting a lot of new people and wanted to put on my most “me” front; that’s what fashion is for anyway, amiright!? I received plenty of compliments on my body hugging skirt, which I loved for the way it made me feel comfortable within my own size and accentuated my shape.

So about the party; I did meet a ton of amazing bloggers, some of whom we were virtual/following buddies and it was great to put facial expressions to the name and photos. I also met a whole slew of new blogger friends, whom I’m excited to spend more time with! Almost a year into my life in DC and I’m finally starting to make friends, haha! I had a wonderful time sipping on wine at Dirty Martini Bar, picking out some jewels with the CapWellCo bauble bar, and just bonding with everyone!

I’m So Fancy, You Already Know

First thing first I’m the realest
Drop this and let the whole world feel it
So many new things in these photos; the beau and I got a new bar for the home, needless to say our friends love coming over even more now. This tank, which I’m having a GIVEAWAY for, is from ByLucianaM, who has amazing cheeky tees and tanks like this one! I love that, on such a beautiful day of enjoying quality time with friends I was able to rock  a statement of “get off the internet”. Also new, this CheapMonday skirt from ShopCalico! I bought it for my upcoming trip to Mexico, but with the temperate weather this past weekend I needed to break it out early. While these sunglasses are older, as the weather picks up I’ve been on the hunt for new sunglasses and one of the greatest resources I’ve found is this face shape resource from BonLook. It’s a great way to figure out which styles will look best on my rounded face shape! With all these fancy new things and the weather, the man and I opened the windows, made some cocktails, and sat outside to drink and soak up some much needed vitamin D!

I Never Ever Saw the Northern Lights

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A fun sporty look I actually wore to the Super Bowl party I went to! My wonderful photographer Brian and I played around with the natural lighting and I couldn’t be happier with the results! It reminds me of a little bit of WildFox vibes meets the street style of LA; what do YOU think!?
As for the clothes; This look is on the edgier style of my personal style spectrum. This sweatshirt (can you believe it’s only $15.99!?) is also kinda of WildFox inspired, and I love the fun quote. It’s subtle crop has me craving another fun belly ring, similar to the ones on FreshTrends, which are also so cheap and chic! And who can forget these shoes!? Adidas x Jeremy Scott inspired that I scored from my local Buffalo Exchange…YES.

Ginger Mint Julep

There’s been this mural by my apartment for ages, and I’ve always liked it for it’s visionary; picture ginger and mint together…
The restaurant closed a few months ago, and I’ve been dying to get my butt over to shoot in front of this before they repaint it, but had to find the perfect look and weather, and I think I nailed it!
Also, how do y’all like my new hair!? I’ve realized, through my TimeHop app, that every February brings major hair changes. 2009 I went from blonde and pink to bold red, 2011 I went bolder red, last year I opted for dark locks and this year? Short and chic…VA VA VOOM

Your Love is Brighter than Ever, Even in the Shadows

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I chose this song for today’s blog post 1, because Beyonce’s new album was heavenly and this song is one of fourteen beautiful songs on the album, and 2, because try as he may have to avoid getting in these shots for the blog, my boyfriend fails and is creepily in the shadows. :p Good thing he rocks some good style!
This look is more of an office type look for me, cozy, conservative, but still a bit fun. This snood was one of my christmas gifts, and thankfully I received it in time for this big deep freeze; it’s perfectly cozy, chic and oh so warm!
