If you’re looking for a simple, yet satisfying and unique breakfast; THIS IS IT!

Ingredients:

peanut butter

flour/wheat wrap

banana

Step 1: Spread peanut butter generously over the entire surface of your wrap:

make sure it touches the edges, as it will hold together better.

Step 2: place banana to one side and roll, tightly.

Step 3: Cut off the ends, then cut about 3/4″ pieces.

Step 4: bust out your chopsticks and enjoy!

Now, FoodStaGram. I know I hadn’t posted a recipe in weeks and I’m terribly sorry! It’s not because I haven’t been cooking, I have! I just forget that maybe I should take pictures/document until I’m halfway finished whipping up a meal.

So, in exchange for those missing weeks, I give you FoodStaGram. A collective of food images from my InstaGram feed!

DiY: Leg Chain!

Pretty simple DIY I did the other day!

Materials Needed:

Elastic band

Thick chain

Thinner chain

Jumprings

Jewelry pliers and side cutter

I was able to find all of these products easily at Michael’s, and I must say I’m very proud of my cute new, pink, side cutter (only $7!)

Begin by cutting a strip of elastic to fit snuggly around your thigh and sewing it together. Then, but about a 6-8″ piece of the thicker chain. Using jump rings, attach this piece to the elastic, and this will be your center!

Next cut two (or more if you’d like) equal lengthed strips of the thinner chain (mine were about 12″).

Attach to the center piece using jump rings.

Slip it onto your thigh and voila! Fancy leg 🙂

Nails of the Week: Chanel Drip

I kept seeing the below image floating around on Tumblr and was SO SO inspired! I had to try it out for myself, thankfully it was fairly easy, considering how I’ve become a sort of (self proclaimed) nail drip expert.

I started with a basic base coat, slightly whiter than the inspired image. I used Sally Hansen Hard Nails Xtreme Wear in ‘Bamboo Shoot”. Then, using the same drip technique I used here and here, I created my drips on most of my fingers, saving my pinky for the interlocking C’s, using Esse’s ‘Licorice’.

I then used my bobby pin and verrrry carefully drew in my C’s. Sadly, my left hand isn’t as sturdy as my right so when it came time to do it on my right hand it came out so horribly I had no choice but to paint the whole nail black. I topped each nail off with a top coat of N.Y.C.’s Nail Glossies in #201. Anyway, simple yet edgy chic. Ya dig!??

Recipe Monday: Risotto

One of the first major things I learned to cook from my dear chef friend, Evan, was the Italian rice dish of Risotto. I became so good at cooking this that every family holiday I am asked to make it. And other times as well. Now, I share with you dear readers the secrets to this savory dish.

Ingredients you will need:

1 bag of Arborio risotto rice

1 large pepper

1/2 large onion

1 clove of garlic

1tbsp Olive Oil

2 cans of vegetable broth

If you’re not a meat eater, feel free to use chicken or a meat by-product broth, though in my studies I’ve found vegetable broth to make a sweeter risotto.

Start by heating your broth’s in a saucepan on low. Next, begin dicing up the clove of garlic and 1/2 your 1/2 of the onion into a small dish, then the other 1/2 your onion and the pepper into a larger side dish.

Next, take a wok or large saucepan, pour the olive oil and the garlic and onion dices into the pan and heat, almost to a sautee.

Next, add a bit of the warm broth, and a handful or two of the rice, along with a small bunch of the onions and pepper. Stir, until most of the broth has been absorbed by the rice in there, then repeat.

Continue slowly adding the ingredients, stirring, all whilst letting the rice absorb the flavor and moisture of the broth until you have the amount you want. PLEASE remember that the rice is expanding, so be prepared for the increase in size and portions. I personally like to enjoy a nice glass of wine, or some other light alcoholic beverage to consume while cooking; feel free to do the same 😉

After about an hour you should have enough to serve about 5-7 people. Make sure the broth is all absorbed into the rice, then let cool before serving.

And, Enjoy! If anyone makes this I’d appreciate to let me know how it turns out! I know my family always LOVES it. Also, if you do any variations!

Nails of The Week: Blood Drip

Last fall I’d seen an image of “bloody” nails floating around Tumblr and had attempted to try it out on my own. This did not work out well for me to just go from image to attempt, no tutorial involved (note the image below).

Thankfully, I found an actual tutorial a few weeks ago hinting to use a bobbie pin or toothpick to help draw the blood (d’oh). With the help of So, Hi’s Tutorial my 2011 attempt was MUCH more successful.

I started by cleaning my nails, then applying this Sally Hansen “sheer vanilla” for three coats, and letting it dry completely. Then, I applied a layer of this deep red from Forever 21 to the tips of my nails.

Next, the drip part. I poured the slightest, dime sized dollop of the Forever 21 red onto paper. I then took my bobbie pin and drew drops of blood, starting farther and dragging towards the tip strip. I also added a few teardrop shaped droplets to really make it look dripping.

Let dry and voila! Much better than my previous attempt and super eerie for this late October week.

And keeping with the theme, enjoy this blood dripping photo of me shot in August by Darkside Images. It’s pretty much my current icon for everything 🙂

DIY Slouchy Clutch

I’ve been feeling creative lately and been dying to create something using this greyscale “fuck” fabric my roommate had lying around. With the laptop clutch craze going around, I decided that’s what I needed.

Next, was the hunt for the perfect sized, shade, and priced zipper. I ended up at B&Q Trimmings on 38th street, which was sooo much cheaper in everything than M&J and also much more helpful! Safe to say I’ll be going back for all my trimmings and non-fabric needs.

Now, for the pictures: I started by cutting the fabric, sewing the bottom and parts of the sides, then sewing the zipper on.

Maven got in the way a little. It came out alright; I forgot I hadn’t sewn anything since I was 18 but it was great to get back on a machine. Then, I modeled it in what I wore for the day!

As you can see I have some BRIGHT new hair, done by my good friend and soon to be recent beauty school graduate, Sarah. She’s amazing and had done my hair before when I had the red with blonde ! 😀

Enjoy, and hopefully there will be more DIY’s to come.
