I’ve definitely been toying with the 90’s grunge comeback with this look; I’ve had this shimmery dress FOREVER but have always had difficulty styling it, but I think I’ve nailed it here. The 90’s would be proud. I’ve also been doing this thing where I attach/embed the music that inspired the title of each blog post, do you guys like that? I figured it’s a good way to incorporate and add new things to my blog and share some of my musical faves with you! Let me know if you readers like it or find it a bother!?

Man Repelling as a Ghetto Republican WRapper

**Please note this title is satirical**

_DSC8025

Completely channeling Leandra AKA The Man Repeller with this look; pattern mixing to the extreme. The idea of pattern mixing used to send my OCD into a fit just thinking about it, but the idea has been growing on me and I must say it’s quite invigorating to dress a little “crazy” and make the people around me roll their eyes. In fact, when I came out with this on my photographer friend giggled and mentioned I look like a white ghetto republican rapper (hence the title). I went with it; threw on my favorite rap sing-a-long of Nelly’s Hot in Herre, and had some fun shooting this.

She Spits on Summer and Smiles Into The Night

I think I’m falling….for FALL! Normally I thrive solely for summer; shorts and tees and tanks. But this current change in weather has me looking towards the future. I’m so excited for what fall has in store (see my color & accessories post on FemInspire, as well as my Fall Wishlist). I was thrilled to find these perfectly hued ankle boots at H&M, and threw on this chambray DIY shirt. I’m also ecstatic to be wearing my leather jacket again (from H&M) which has been a favorite of mine since I first bought it.

On the non-sartorial aspect, I’m excited for crunching leaves beneath my feet and New England adventures that I can only hope to include apple picking, pumpkin picking, and a belligerently drunk trip to King Richard’s Faire. What are you excited about for fall (fashionably or life-oriented)!?

Life is Too Short to Care What Others Think

Getting in on my spring time brights and breaking out some sneakers. These are one of my favorite pair of kicks, but living in NYC I rarely find wear for them, so I’m sure they’re happy I’m in MA for a few weeks. Sure, shoes can have feelings too, right?

Forever 21 sunglasses

Also, this is one of my favorite tee shirts ever, for obvious reasons. Crass and bold, and it always gets people to stare at my chest, for better reasons than is more common!

New York, You Set My Heart on Fire

I moved to NYC in 2007. I’ve been here ever since (with a few short stints in MA which don’t count because I lived out of my suitcase).

I love this place; there’s always something to do, so many unique people, and its ever inspiring. Though someday I may leave for the west coast (these 12 degree days are killing me) I think I’ll always have a home here. The skyline forever makes my heart skip beats and it never loses it’s novelty, even after these four and a half years.

Awkward Faces

My brother is my photographer when I’m visiting my parents’. This is good, because he understands composition and exposure and fancy camera stuff like that; he NEVER complains not matter how many times a day I ask him to grab the camera and press the buttons; he’s pretty much the best 15 year old brother a girl could ask for. Also, he snaps a photo pretty much every single SECOND. I mean, this is good since he can catch random more candid shots. Or, you know, he catches all the hideous goofball faces I make in between posing. On this cold, post blizzard day it looks like he captured the most hiedous faces. But it’s okay, I don’t mind sharing with y’all!

Militant

Disclaimer: This was my first time on my roof; my photographer friend was nervous about the “No Trespassing” signs, and his nerves were then transferred to me. Err Go, These photos are not the best that they could be. Also, it was an exceptionally windy, late October day.

Now, I try to keep my posts interesting by diversifying my style, shoot locations, et cetera. Hopefully my friend and I can officially conquer our fear of the roof signage and produce more great shots from up here! Because, well, once those green trees finally succumb to their fall foliage and death, there is a FANTASTIC NYC skyline view. Be jealous that I get to see the skyline daily…it’s something I NEVER take for granted!

Hanging on to those last bits of Summer

Happy October First! Thankfully, the last day of September was a gorgeous 75 degree day, here in New York City. I was feeling inspired, and trying my hardest to hang onto those last bits of nice weather before the cold fully envelopes us.

I’m sooo loving this new lipstick as well (woah, yea, I’m wearing lipstick). I had been on the hunt for the perfect pink shade for so long, and found it one day at Sephora; Givenchy #23. But everytime I was there they’d have the sample but never any stock for me to buy! finally, though, in a spontaneous trip into the Times Square location, I found my lipstick. Perfection, isn’t it?

Drinks, Grub, and Good People

Over the weekend my roommate’s parents visited to help her move to Chicago for a few months (read: VERY SAD DEPRESSED SAHRA in the future). Whenever they’re in town they graciously treat us to meals, drinks, and shopping at the top places in the city.

For brunch we went to the famed, timeless B Bar and Grill on Bowery.  I wore a Targeet dress, with my DB Sandals, vintage bag, and my hair in a bun I made using the tutorial from Forever Amber, which can be found here.

After brunch and packing up Eliza’s bedroom we headed to Cafe Bar, an adorable lounge that doubles as a day time family destination in Astoria, Queens. Not only is the decor amazing, but they offer amazing food and drinks. We met up with a family of friends to say hello to their son and played Pictionary while I sipped Very Berry Mojitos. This adventure was immediately followed by a cab to the UES for our favorite classic Italian restaurant, Giovanni’s Venticinque.

After the amazing, filling, delectabe meal we rushed downtown for a super secret last surprise for my best friend… Harry Potter in Imax/3D! Though I’d already seen the movie, seeing it in Imax/3D was even better, and the company was perfection.

For the evening’s events I wore this BCBG dress, Aldo wedges, and a Forever 21 varsity jacket.

All in all, it was an amazing last day, though now I’m rather sad. and alone. well, more fashion for you to enjoy then!

BlackAndYellow (and white)

It’s sunny, for the first time in DAYS. It’s Spring.

I recently reclaimed my yellow pants from my parents’ home last weekend and have been itching to wear them, and yesterday just felt like the right day at last. With the sun shining, sunglasses on, and a comfortable, relaxed “it’s finally Thursday” air it was the perfect ensemble.
