No Ties No Fear We’re Livin’ in the Minute

Fall Style with Cashmere and Snakeskin on DC Blogger Que Sera Sahra

Levi’s Curve ID jeans
J.Crew sweater (similar for under $100 here)
Aldo Booties (sold out)(similar here)(and here)
Derek Lam Sunglasses (on sale here for less than $60!)

I can’t believe it’s halfway through December already guys! Cuh-Razy. Lucky for me it’s been a pretty mild fall here in DC; temps hover in the 50s and 60s save for a few fretful days a la this one and there hasn’t been any snow sightings yet! I’ve been loving it, and totally relishing in the fact that I can wear more than corduroys and turtlenecks still. I’ve been living in lightweight cashmeres and little booties with subtle leather accents; perfect for fall transitions.

I’ve been so busy lately with travel and the holidays that I haven’t posted much but don’t worry; I am working on editing some images from my birthday trip to New Orleans and should have those to share soon! ah-it was amazing !

9to5 style with Que Sera Sahra

A little 9to5 style insp. for you! Blue is one of my go-to colors to wear, and navy and teal is very much included in that. Pairing the two together creates a cohesive look that’s still a little fun and glam thanks to some shimmer fibers and cozy textures.

I Can’t Feel My Face

Layered Winter Street Style with DC Blogger Sahra

This weekend we had our first real taste of the impending winter. I woke up on Sunday to a mere 34°…BUH BUH BURRRR. I literally can’t feel my face in, like, half of these photos. I knew I had wanted to shoot these jeans but deemed the planned white off-the-shoulder top as officially unseasonable. Instead it was time to break out the turtlenecks, leather accessories, and the many layers of HeatTech and go meet with my new photographer Mark who as you can see is amazing.

These jeans are my new favorite! I’d actually been wearing some serious bell-bottoms I’d had since the 7th grade. I told Z that as soon as I bought a new, upgraded, adult pair. When I walked into Madewell they called to me…high waisted (as opposed to my hip-slung pair of yester-year), deep saturated indigo color, and the perfect shape for my body and I was sold. I’ve worn my Flea Market Flares everywhere, and always feel fabulous in them. Also, they make my butt look great so that’s a perk too.

Don’t Fear Baby Cuz You and Me Are Golden

When you can’t breathe, it’s you that I’ll be holdin’
Yes, I’m all in, through thick and thin
This is good loving; you and me are golden

Transitional Work wear

It’s been a busy end to summer…while I’ve had more free time from work I’ve surprisingly felt less like taking outfit photos for the blog and more like embracing experiences with friends. Happy hours after work and my favorite volunteer projects have held a higher importance to me. #SorryNotSorry. I’m planning trips, a few [minor] blog changes, and plans with friends, bloggers and not. I’m finding new loves in life, but am still in love with blogging.

So, dear followers and readers, accept this bold and fun 9 to 5 style post as a peace offering for my minimal posting as of late, as a “thank you for your patience” with me.

Polka dots are such a fun print to style these days, and nothing brightens up a crisp fall day like orange hues!

I’m Not The Only One

J. Crew Sweater, Levi's® Jeans, Cole Haan Shoes

Casual Sunday vibes in a borrowed-from-the-boyfriend fair isle sweater, looks like they were borrowed-from-the-boys Levi’s Curve ID jeans and some bold Cole Haan oxfords. Nothing like a pop of color on a cozy Sunday before a winter storm.

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry!

There’s been this mural by my apartment for ages, and I’ve always liked it for it’s visionary; picture ginger and mint together…
The restaurant closed a few months ago, and I’ve been dying to get my butt over to shoot in front of this before they repaint it, but had to find the perfect look and weather, and I think I nailed it!
Also, how do y’all like my new hair!? I’ve realized, through my TimeHop app, that every February brings major hair changes. 2009 I went from blonde and pink to bold red, 2011 I went bolder red, last year I opted for dark locks and this year? Short and chic…VA VA VOOM

Springtime Flowers!

As we all know springtime means the influx of florals in our wardobes. Yesterday I had the great pleasure of going to one of the oldest fabric floral centers in New York City. M&S Shmalberg Custom Fabric Flowers has been an in house design and production company for over 100 years, surprisingly owned and operated by men. They make flowers of every kind of fabric you can imagine; chiffon, leather, cotton, lace…you name it, they will make it.

Their mini factory on 36th street does everything, and the process is truly quie fascinating. Beginning with yards of drapable fabric, they then starch the pieces, before cutting each into a flat floral shape with petals. Then, using heat presses and molds, they mold the starched fabric to give it dimension. Next, 3-4 pieces that had been molded together are slightly seperated and spun, creating a flower!

Now, you may have not heard their name, but you’ve definitely seen their flowers. As the largest custom flower distributers in America they do the designs you see on all your favorite brands. From Coach to J. crew and Banana Republic, but also including custom designers, headbands, and wedding dresses.

The company is currently run by a father and son, Warren and Adam, and they are some totally sweet guys. Warren gave me a flower and some fabric that I’m already planning a great dress for (I’ll sew it one of those weekends I’m free…) and were just so sweet. Their website is of simplest forms, but the son, Adam, is trying to tech the business up, as seen on their Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/?sk=h#!/fabricflowers

Mainly, This post is a gush about how great this company is. They’re name isn’t a common household name, but they’re flowers definitely are and they are indubitably under appreciated. If you’re planning a party, wedding, or anything else you may need fabric flowers for PLEASE think of them. I can’t gush enough. I also can’t wait to head back to them with some project ideas of my own! ❤

Everything is Wet and Awkward

I took a trp down tIo Baltimore this weekend to visit one of my closest friends. It was a grand ol’ time; whiskey and vodka were drank, sushi and many a taco and nacho were consumed, and the weather was nearing 50 degrees! I even wore a skirt, as you can see, and stepped out of my UGG’s and Uniqlo tights for once.

Foreve 21 Skirt

Old Navy Boots

These were taken on a particular wet day in which we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house until someone came to rescue us with the spare key. Later that day we helped a clearly drugged/high guy who had gotten into a severe car accident on the highay call the police. And then ate pounds and pounds of mexican food. Needless to say, this was the most exciting day of the trip, and I think I looked damn cute for it!
