She Don’t Know The Gravity She Holds

she walking so fast
Oh, our lady
she don’t know how she going
She owns the eyes as she flies right through the sound
Moving her body all around town

She Don't Know the Gravity She Holds

Leopard print and cut out heels with a dash of youthful edge; a perfect look for a summery soiree. This dress is a thrifted favorite- a leopard strapless dress with the ever-coveted pockets that makes a great closet addition as it’s versatile, just like me! It can be dressed up and dressed down depending on the mood, and for this look the mood is downtown chic. Worn to a shopping blogger event on a 90 degree day it was perfect, especially for the sunset walk home as the temperature dropped. Hello Summer, Welcome, I’ve missed you.

You Make My Heavy Metal Heart Beat

You turn my red to black
I’m never coming back
The way I was before
I’m not her anymore

This little lady-rocker blogger wore this look to the CappFABB 3rd anniversary party a few weeks ago! I wanted to wear something that encapsulated my personal style, as I knew I’d be meeting a lot of new people and wanted to put on my most “me” front; that’s what fashion is for anyway, amiright!? I received plenty of compliments on my body hugging skirt, which I loved for the way it made me feel comfortable within my own size and accentuated my shape.

So about the party; I did meet a ton of amazing bloggers, some of whom we were virtual/following buddies and it was great to put facial expressions to the name and photos. I also met a whole slew of new blogger friends, whom I’m excited to spend more time with! Almost a year into my life in DC and I’m finally starting to make friends, haha! I had a wonderful time sipping on wine at Dirty Martini Bar, picking out some jewels with the CapWellCo bauble bar, and just bonding with everyone!

Your Love is Brighter than Ever, Even in the Shadows

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I chose this song for today’s blog post 1, because Beyonce’s new album was heavenly and this song is one of fourteen beautiful songs on the album, and 2, because try as he may have to avoid getting in these shots for the blog, my boyfriend fails and is creepily in the shadows. :p Good thing he rocks some good style!
This look is more of an office type look for me, cozy, conservative, but still a bit fun. This snood was one of my christmas gifts, and thankfully I received it in time for this big deep freeze; it’s perfectly cozy, chic and oh so warm!

Lights, Camera, Strike a Pose

Vaster your dreams and your hopes into it
Everything you used to know is gone
And you’re slipping into in your own
_MG_8441Hello All! Sorry that this is, like, a week late, but here’s what I wore on New Year’s! This dress has an interesting story; I found it at a lovely little boutique while in Saratoga Springs, NY called Piper. But at $94 it was out of my budget fashionista’s price range. I was disheartened, but flash forward three months as I’m on my mother’s couch scoping out a local boutique’s post-Christmas 50% off sale and what do I find? The Jack by BB Dakota beauty for a mere $40. I grabbed my layers and bolted to Calico in New Bedford and snagged that beauty up! It clearly was fate, as I eventually found the dreamy dress, which fits like a glove at a price even I can afford!
So I wore my new dress for the New Year’s celebration, paired with mixed metals and sky high wedges. I hung out with as many of my closest friends as possible, so I was in great company as I kicked butt at Cards Against Humanity before kissing my beau, and BFF, at midnight!

How was your new years!? What are your resolutions!?

That….WARM? February air

Yesterday was a rare, stunningly beautiful February day. It hit up to 66 degrees and was just absolutely gorgeous; clear blue skies, plenty of sunshine, and a slight breeze. I prodded my roommate until she woke up to go to the park with me, and borrowed an adorable dress from her for the day. We had plenty of fun with our little pooch and all the other ones out enjoying the day.

After our lovely romp in the park we prepared for our pre-planned evening. I decided to stick with the dress, but threw on some tights and my favorite Aldo wedges and H&M leather jacket. We stopped by for drinks at The Bowery Hotel, which has a lovely, comfortable atmosphere. Next stop, Scarpetta, a delicious italian eatery on 14th street and 9th avenue. There was a gorgeous skylight (rare from the first floor of any building in NYC) and my entire table sampled both red and white wine before the bread and appetizers.

Scarpetta is most famous for their basic spaghetti, which I tried. It’s basic, yes; tomatoes, basil and pasta, but oh my god is it delicious! As was everything I tried. For my entree I ordered Red Beet and Ricotta tortellini with pistachios and poppy seeds. I must say I was skeptical, but once it was in front of me it was beyond delicious.

Dessert was fantastic too, as we got a three dishes so we could all share. Sadly, I was much too full already to enjoy these.

Safe Style

The most important thing you can wear as a savvy fashionista who loves to have fun is… A CONDOM. Sure, they seem silly, unfashionable, inconvenient, especially with those trashy NYC Subway condoms haunting you, but I’ve come to let you know how much fun and FASHIONABLE condoms can be!

First off, let’s start with name brand; both Chanel and Marc Jacobs sell condoms. The Marc Jacobs come in an adorable matchbook type package with lovey dovey stick figures on them. Price? $1.50 each, to protect in style. Chanel is slightly pricier, at $279 per 12 pack of condoms. But, c’mon, who doesn’t want Chanel condoms!? The packaging bears the iconic Chanel logo with text stating “FOR USE BY TRENDY SLUTS”. You don’t get much cooler than that.

Sex and Sundhed Condoms/Packaging

While these designers are the only ones marketably promoting safer sex, there are also fabulous packages by lesser brands that make you still just want to grab for a rubber! Denmark company Sex & Sundhed has a package of 3 condoms that come in fun packaging that, when empty, spell out “No More Sex”. They will ship to our fair country, and you can buy these puppies at www.sexogsundhed.dk .

Moving on to something more guy friendly, the condom gun. While this ingenious packaging is still in the conceptual stages, I know a number of us are waiting for it to hit the shelves. The gun is a white plastic gun with the script “Rubber for Lover” artfully on the barrel. The condom itself goes in place of bullets in the cartridge.

Now that you’re educated, go have some fabulous, frivolous, and fashionably fun sex! YAY SEX!
