I’m Froze by Desire, No Need to Leave

Please excuse the poor quality of these images, I’m not sure what has happened. But, I felt cute in this outfit; a play on of the exposed collar with a shrunken sweater.

Also, it is freaking cold here in NYC. I might die soon, just as a warning.

More From Kyle Burnell

As previously stated, while on vacation in Maine I did a photoshoot with local photographer, Kyle Burnell. Here’s a few more shots from that fun early morning shoot!

This sleeveless hoodie is honestly one of my FAVORITE pieces of my wardrobe. It’s perfect in the summer, as a beach cover up, as a risque top, as an extra layer addition. I have some outfits in the works with it that are just…well, I mean, I think they’re pretty rad. You’ll have to wait and see them!

Hope you enjoy the images!

Dude Fashion for Spring!

For those of you close to me, you already know. Those of you who are just readers/followers (Thank you for your support <3) you don’t know. I have recently taken on a new job, a coveted job for any college sophomore, a buying job. In the men’s department.

Heading in I knew very little about the changing trends as I’ve rarely studied the guy’s side. As my first month comes to a close, I’m feeling more confident and educated. I know very few truly styling men in my life, and I wish more straight guys would care about style, but alas, the world can’t be perfect.

Here are a few men’s fashions I’ve noticed for the upcoming season.

1. Brights

Similarly to femme fashion, bright colors and “color blocking” are a necessity.

Where to go for all your bright basics? American Apparel seems to be the winner for pricing and functionality.

2. Business Casual

This is one men’s trend that I absolutely adore, and I can’t stress it enough. A man in jeans, a button front shirt with sleeves rolled up and maybe a vest or a bowtie=SEX.

Not to objectify, but I think Keiko Lynn’s boyfriend is a perfect example of how every straight man should dress.

In real life, this is a simple style for even straight men to follow. Places to shop for this look? Forever 21, H&M, and Express.

3. On the Seas

While nautical is like, a spring staple similar to florals, this yer it’s taking on a new approach. Ofcourse, boat shoes are a nice addition to your shoe collection, navy stripes are coveted in larger fronts. Windbreaker jackets (Even without the wind) are a must have.

So, my few men out there reading, what are your thoughts?

Strapped in Men

I rarely post about men’s fashion. Simply, straight men are barely interested in fashion and I personally don’t have much interest in men’s fashion. I have been seeing a lot of styles on guys, though, that I’ve recently been seeing around more and more and I must say I like it.

The reformed, fashionable man is coming back into style. Suspenders, higher pants, crisp shirts, cardigans, etc. Fedoras, suspenders, bow ties, and other vintage accessories are being seen as well. Take this wedding party image for example; perfectly well dressed, handsome men.

They’re so adorable.

With the recent Men’s fashion week shows happenning I’ve been able to keep up with and track which designers have caught on and are making these styles more and more acceptable.

My first favorite? Dolce and Gabbana. They’re new men’s spring 2011 line is inspired by Charlie Chaplin (note the image to the right).

Gucci and Dior, among others are following suit, while the streets are taking the style where it belongs.

Lookbook.nu has a lot of men with the style as well. Personally, I think it’s adorable. I wish all men would dress like that, hint hint. 😉

Also a recently seen trend on the runways is blazers with cargo shorts; a cleaned up yet laid back mix of a look.  It’s been on Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Prada….you get the picture. For Spring 2011, this trend will take hold full force, and I know I’m looking forward to some sexy business, laid back man candy.

So, men, where to find these looks? Suspenders can be found anywhere from Mr Tux to Hot Topic and Spencer’s. Bow Ties and skinny ties are best found at tuxedo/suit shops or the occasional accessories area of H&M and Forever 21. Shorts are everywhere, and blazers could be found at most higher class’d stores that carry suit pieces. That’s all I can offer for advice currently, but I’ll be doing a big men’s post come late August/September.

Enjoy for now and I hope to start seeing some better dressed dudes !
