As the Sky Darkens

Chipped neon nail polish and plenty of exposed skin. Summer, please don’t end. I never want to wear more than a casual leather jacket, draped across endlessly freckled shoulders.

Maybe these dreams could come true…I’ll keep you posted.

Nails of The Week: Ombre

Quick little post of my nails for this week! Used a Forever 21 light mauve purple base and then Esse’s “Wicked” for the second layer.

It could be neater but I don’t mind a little mess.

Fashion Friends, Fleas, and French Food

Sunday I met up with a few of my NYC Fashion Blogger friends to hit up the famed Williamsburg, Brooklyn Flea Market. It was however, my third week in a row there, so I just perused my favorite booths and added my two cents into the other girls’ purchases and potentials. We lounged around for a bit on the gorgeous waterfront which is coincidentally my second favorite view in all of New York City.

As fashion bloggers, we took a substantial amount of pictures of each other, so the images all link back to each blogger’s blog!

After walking around followed by relaxing, we headed to a late brunch down Bedford Ave at an amazing french restaurant. We all had some sort of delicious plate, and then were surprised by a dessert tasting! My favorite is the creme brulee, though the chocolate mousse was decadently rich like a thick fudge and the seasoned fruit cake melted in your mouth.

Mmmm….fancy, delicious, AMAZING creme brulee! Now for the fashion; What I Wore:

Ch-Ch-Changes

It’s summer and if you haven’t noticed by now I get bored quite easily with my appearance. In the past two days I’ve made one MAJOR change and a few minute impermanent ones.

First, my hair. Remember last summer’s undercut of my half shaved head? I wanted to go back to that for the nice edge it added to my look and the cool summer breeze. There was a miscommunication with my hairdresser so within second I ended up like this:

After a few tears I rationalized with “it will grow back, just a few weeks and it will be fine”. So we evened it out. And Ya know? It’s even starting to grow on me how short it is.

Bf ❤

I also decided to paint my nails something fun and bold and bright last night. I chose to go with ombre purple to pink…

** Please excuse all the cell phone and webcam shots, you’ll see prettier ones later**

Other changes in the works, besides new collaborations, I may be considering changing my blogging platform. I love the set up of wordpress and the ease of posting, but from a professional and monetary standpoint it’s not functional. If you’re a blogger do you have any other advice? Please let me know.

Laquered Up

In high school I was a cheerleader, and we practiced 11 months out of the year, so I was never allowed to wear nail polish. After graduating high school I’ve slowly gotten into the habit of weekly self manicures and experimenting with nail art. I’ve come across some note worthy blogs, images, and tips I’d like to share with you all!

First off, most recently I managed to paint my nails leopard, with out any help! IF you’ve ever tried to design your own nails, you understand what a great feat this was.

Through the past I’ve also been known within my friends for creating a really good ombre nail. Last winter I did this with almost every glitter and color combination I could find…

pink with blue glitter

Green with green glitter

Pink with teal/blue

Galaxy nails; still messy from being freshly done.

Ombre Green/blue

I use a range of brands including NYC, Sally Hansen, OPI for Sephora, and Wet n Wild.

You can find almost any tutorial on Youtube, as well as a few on FYPN. There’s a TON of blogs about nail art, polishes, and design out there but this one is by far my favorite. A close second is Laquerized.com .

Enjoy, and I just wanted to share some fun inspirations with you all!

*EDIT* I’m thinking of doing a Nails Of The Week post…opinions?
