Nails Of The Week: Pastel Drips

20120429-122451.jpg

Did these nails for the week! Started with ‘Licorice’ by Esse base (two coats) then used a bobby pin a la my blood drip nails tutorial to great drips in ‘Waterlily’ by Dior. Once that dried I created drips with ‘She’s Picture Perfect’ by Esse. And voila! Pastel drippy nails that almost remind me of ice cream!

Inspirations for Costa Rica

In exactly one week I will be in fabulous, sunny, warm San Jose, Costa Rica! I mean, not that it’s warm here, with our March days reaching almost 90 degrees in the North East, but you know what I mean.

So here goes, a visual inspiration of what I should be packing and wearing!

The plan: San Jose, mostly. I have day trips planned to the Arenal Volcano and the Sloth Sanctuary. I’ll also be spending four lovely days on the beach in Manuel Antonio, where I’m planning on snorkeling with some sting rays and maybe even going horse back riding!

The gist of what I’m packing? Whites, loose tees, shorts, cotton dresses, and pastels and neons!

I’m so excited for this trip, and I can’t wait to share all the pictures I take with you!

A Lesson in Pastels

pas·tel

1    [pa-stel; especially Brit. pas-tl]

noun 1. a color having a soft, subdued shade

IFB Project #37 is all about spring and pastels. I’m lucky I just bought that perfect lilac jacket yesterday! Also, going through the entries on the main page, I realize not everyone understands pastel. I mean, not every fashion blogger went to school for fashion like I did, but I still feel it important to understand your passions. So this post, an outfit post, will also include a little information about pastels, and a glimpse into those pastel pieces of my wardrobe.

A pastel, as noted above, is a soft subdued shade. A lighter hue of a COLOR. This includes lilacs, soft pinks, baby blues, mints, white, et cetera. Which are all COLORS mixed mostly of white, if we’re talking about acrylic paints. This does not include bright pinks or neutral hues of basic colors.

Pastels:

Bullhead jeans from PacSun

WetSeal tank

Thrifted heels and jacket

DIY top

Justice skirt

Dior “Waterlily” (Giveaway HERE!)

Esse “She’s Picture Perfect”

NOT Pastels:

Delia’s tank

skirt from PacSun

Thrifted jacket

Converse sneakers

I hope this has cleared up any confusion in the blogosphere. Back to pastels, stay tuned for a post of my inspirations for my trip to Costa Rica next week; plenty of pastels will be packed!

Punk Rock Princess

Lat Friday I dragged myself off my couch to go to dinner with a couple blogger friends.I blindly got dressed in a matter of minutes when I realized our reervations were an hour earlier than I originally thought. I think I managed a pretty killer look, don’t you think?

For dinner we went to Cafetasia, this lovely little Thai fusion place right by NYU. Nicole and I opted for frozen daiquiris, hers being pineapple something and mine strawberry banana. Monroe and Nike stayed away from the liquor, but still had delicious drinks(we all shared a bit for tasting purposes). I had a salad, delicious veggie spring rolls cut like sushi, and obviously, rice. I must say, I’m a queen with chopsticks, even when I’m being a goon.

I wore this dress from the 80’s this nice little thrift store around the corner from my apartment. It was only $5! While I feel like I’m going to my 1985 prom, I still love it, especially when I punk it out like I did here with my Jessica Simpson boots,TopShop, Stein and Blye, and Bali bracelets, Peter Grimm hat, and Aldo three finger ring. My bag was also thrifted, from Savers in East Providence, RI. And now, I leave you with a music video.
