We Are All Sufferers of Love, Waiting for the Rains to Come

Don’t mind the Trojan tattoo; it’s fake and a leftover from a great day spent at Warped tour the day before these photos were taken.

Librarian Status

I woke up to a chilly day, comparatively speaking to yesterday’s 88 degrees. I decided to take advantage and don this sweater I found in a pile of my father’s “too small” clothes. Apparently, YES, this sweater is a men’s. Maybe my dad was just a hipster in the 80’s, I don’t know. But, I knew it had the perfect colors and adorable print to mix with my previously white dress. Previously white? Yea, this little city dweller did her laundry and accidentally threw in this perfectly white dress with a red towel with some jeans. I’m planning on bleaching it back to it’s pristine shade, but for now enjoying the subtle spring hue.

Did you know I have glasses? These aren’t your quintessential hipster glasses, they’re my prescription I’m supposed to wear while reading and driving. I mostly don’t while driving, but since a recent excursion to the library on a sick day I picked up this travel book on Costa Rica and have been doing my research for next week.

RockStarrrr and Giveaway Winner!

I wear these pants I studded myself more often than I showcase on this blog…They’re amazing, and so much fun to just sit here and rub my knees with the palms of my hands.

Shirt by UncleDJ

DIY jeans

J. Simpson boots

Bracelets from Bali, Bloomingdale’s, and Target

Not the best photos, but meh. This shirt was a gift from a pretty awesome DJ friend of mine. We actually met as I discussed the irony and “hipster” fad of his logo, but even I came to wear something with a mustache on it, in support of him and his work.

Anyway, onto what you’ve been waiting for….and the winner to my favorite beauty products giveaway is…..

Congratulations! expect an email from me shortly ❤

Thanks to everyone who participated! Hopefully I’ll do another giveaway soon!

Girl Crush: Porcelain Black

If you haven’t noticed by now my style is a little out there; influenced by a more rock’n’roll culture (as well as classic glamour-yay versatility!). All of my girl crushes have something unique to their edgy style. Now, normally I do other bloggers, but today’s girl style crush is a singer and performer who goes by the name of Porcelain Black.

Real name Alaina Beaton has been a long time coming to the culture scene, starting out as a cliche “scene girl” but hey, we all went through that phase, right?

Now, she’s figured out one hair style (two colors) to stick with that makes her memorable. And besides her gorgeous tresses, this girl has tattoos, killer style, and not to mention a rockin’ BF (Bam Margera). Let’s look back at my favorite, inspiring looks of hers:

She is the definition of Glam-rock in sky high heels, black and metal, and just the right amount of sheer. She is everything I aspire to be sartorially, if only hot pants were a less frowned upon form of public clothing.

Now, I leave you with my favorite single of hers:

DIY or DIE

Last weekend I did my first studding and spiking! With the help of my fellow NYC Fashion Bloggers, the hospitality of my Girl Crush: Candy, and the spponsorship of StudsandSpikes.com we had a great little party full of metal!

After being inspired from various other bloggers and my DIY Inspirations post, I decided to stud the knee caps of a pair of black jeans. They came out rather well in my opinion!

I started out pressing down the backs of my studs with my PetCo card, but then realized a flat head screw driver was much more effective.

It was such a great time, though my fingers and thumbs ended up quite sore after about 4 hours of studding. My friends made some amazing pieces too! And I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of these jeans in the future; I’m so happy with how they came out! ❤

Punk Rock Princess

Lat Friday I dragged myself off my couch to go to dinner with a couple blogger friends.I blindly got dressed in a matter of minutes when I realized our reervations were an hour earlier than I originally thought. I think I managed a pretty killer look, don’t you think?

For dinner we went to Cafetasia, this lovely little Thai fusion place right by NYU. Nicole and I opted for frozen daiquiris, hers being pineapple something and mine strawberry banana. Monroe and Nike stayed away from the liquor, but still had delicious drinks(we all shared a bit for tasting purposes). I had a salad, delicious veggie spring rolls cut like sushi, and obviously, rice. I must say, I’m a queen with chopsticks, even when I’m being a goon.

I wore this dress from the 80’s this nice little thrift store around the corner from my apartment. It was only $5! While I feel like I’m going to my 1985 prom, I still love it, especially when I punk it out like I did here with my Jessica Simpson boots,TopShop, Stein and Blye, and Bali bracelets, Peter Grimm hat, and Aldo three finger ring. My bag was also thrifted, from Savers in East Providence, RI. And now, I leave you with a music video.

Hang Ups

I love tattoos, I love the feeling, the smell of a nice tattoo parlour, the smell every time you lather on some A&D ointment. I love the minute, almost comforting pain and the soothing sounds of a tattoo gun.

YES I only got one last month. But I almost got another, which I’m still planning to do. Actually, I mean, if you want to talk reality, I have about 10 ideas and designs for future tattoos. Someday I will probably end up looking like this (hopefully after a career and I’ve settled down in life and can be a bad a$$ grandma):

Now, while tattoos and piercings and punk rock is all a fun aspect of my life it’s not everything. If you haven’t caught on by now, the world of FASHION is kind of my entire life. I dedicate my education, my work, my play, my free time; it’s all involved in the fashion world somehow. After Best of Bklyn‘s recent post about how she came to run a fashion blog it really got me thinking. How did my start coming into this world begin? From as far back as I can remember I’ve always been picky about what I wear. In kindergarten all I wore was oversize sweaters (I was TINY) and stirrup leggings. Yea, that look worked like three years ago too. When I was applying to college for fashion my essays began with this story, and how I could throw a hissy fit if anything didn’t FEEL comfortable or match perfectly. In high school I was runner up for best dressed; I made my own clothes just to have something fun. I’d intertwine my love of pin-up-y looks and juvenile prints, for example into a tight Elmo skirt or the animal print off the shoulder dress I posted the other day.

I’ve NEVER been one to stick to the trends too closely or wear anything specifically to fit in.

Anyway, getting back to the point of this post. Fashion is MY LIFE. Tattoos are used primarily to represent things of importance in one’s life. I’ve always loved the idea of a coat hanger or safety pin tattoo, probably since I was about 13. I almost got them last month on a particularly grueling day. Sadly, the tattoo parlour I went to was all booked up for the day.

But, I feel the need to get these tattoos. I’ve been scouring for inspiration on location, size, shape, etc, and figured I’d share with you my findings (images via Google search and Tumblr).

Now, I want both, I believe. My first thought was on the out side of my calves, one on each leg, like the image to the right. My other thought was the underside of my forearms, similar to the one of the two safety pins above, though they’d have to be pretty subtle.

Thoughts? Do any of my readers have tattoos? If so, I wanna see them!

okay, end
