NYFW Day 1, Part 2: Arrojo 10th Anniversary Party

During Joe Zee’s keynote speech at the IFB Conference, I made a dash for the bathroom to quickly change into a more suitable party ensemble for the rest of the night. The first stop was the 10th Anniversary party for Arrojo salons.

Walking in I notice Tatum, the lovely (and might I add, attractive) man who cut my hair at the last Arrojo event I attended was spinning as the DJ as the place swarmed with fashionable and awesomely tressed guests. I ran into Kimberly of Can I get a What What again, as well as seeing Keiko, and many of my NYC Fashion Blogger friends. As previously stated, my tousled locks stayed all night, thanks to KMS California.

Nick Arrojo VJ’d for a bit, talking about his fond memories of the beginnings of his now famed company. He spun a few oldies hits, then came to dance with us ladies, and “backing dat azz up” with Ashley and taking goofy pictures with all of us.

For this portion of my day I wore a gifted dress from Francesca’s Collection, along with my moto boots. I had originally planned to wear my Lady GaGa second skin platforms, but I hadn’t had enough to drink and was in too much pain to wear them for hours.

Stay tuned for part three of NYFW Day 1, and then FNO!

Palace Playland

One extremely hot day of vacation, the BF, siblings and I hit up the downtown arcade and amusement park, Palace Playland. We splurged on all-day bracelets for the rides, which definitely worked out their worth with the log flume ride alone. With our bracelets we rode each ride a few times, and bumper car’d for a solid half hour straight.

After being worn out by constant motion, we moved on to the arcade and played a ton of skee ball, basketball, and motion games, winning a solid 656 tickets, used for bracelets and candy 😀

Now, for what I wore:

Wet seal tanks

Express Shorts

Charming Charlie’s bag (NEW!)

DB sandals

Keeping it Real

YAY! My first outfit post from my Maine vacation!

If you haven’t noticed, I don’t edit my photos. I rarely use photoshop outside of school projects, so what you see is what you get when it comes to my blog. In these images, I’m keeping it even more real. Since being on vacation I’ve applied my make up maybe ONCE. There’s not much need when all you go is down to the ocean every morning, then shower off the sand to cuddle and watch TV/movies.

Chomp Chomp Chomp

I’m so excited, my new Iron Fist zombie chomper swimsuit came in the mail, just in time for my trip up to Maine! Thanks to the help of Jennifer at Style Addiction I was able to find this suit in the perfect sizes without ever having to try it on; yay for getting over my fear of online shopping!

Find this, and other fun monster faces swimsuits (I like the Evil Dead one a bunch as well!) right here. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of this swimsuit, as well as my others, this week, so I’ll save the zombie face spam for later.

JC+LF+Sushi

Last night I attended the launch of Jeffrey Campbell’s new bag line at a Fourth of July party at LF stores in SoHo.  I walked into free lemonade from girls wearing various pieces of American Flag apparel (totally IN right now, right?) and cupcakes, cake, and everything themed. I immediately found my fellow blogger friends amongst the plethora of associates mixed with the “too cool for school” teenage crowd.

After saying hello and getting accustomed to the situation I took a look around the store. to be honest, I was scared for my life. LF Stores is the epitome of force fed fashion, catering to the personality and personal taste-less followers of the Nylon bible. You’ve got your crop tops, American flag shorts, fringed “vintage” tees, and all-you-can-wear high waisted “vintage” Levi shorts. Oh, and did I mention the Jeffrey Campbell Lita’s?

Amongst the rubble of fashion vomit I managed to find the Sam Edelman heels I’ve been lusting after, as well as this gorgeous kimono.

Okay, so I don’t completely hate the shop. I think, piece by piece, they are some amazing finds. But for the most part, I’d rather not be force fed my daily dose of Nylon Magazine’s poolings all at once.

Anyway, so after waiting through two bag giveaways (one of which was won by my dear friend Monroe!), 6 of us decided to go for sushi at Noodle Zen on St. Mark’s.

Since I’d already had sushi for lunch, I opted for a vegetable tempura udon, which was quite good, especially alongside my orange chu-hi beverage.

Now for what I wore:

Misfits tee from Hot Topic (DIY/cutout myself)

Forever 21 shorts

Aldo Wedges

Gifted R&Em bag (can be found here)

Peter Grimm hat

TopShop bracelets

And now I leave you with this photobooth strip of Nicole and I making funny faces! ❤

Tell Me Girly How’s Your Edge

It’s been a chilly and rainy few days here in NYC and my office is even colder.

Ann Taylor Loft sequin sweater

Rue 21 pants

Wild Pair heels

Totally loving my new hair.

Ch-Ch-Changes

It’s summer and if you haven’t noticed by now I get bored quite easily with my appearance. In the past two days I’ve made one MAJOR change and a few minute impermanent ones.

First, my hair. Remember last summer’s undercut of my half shaved head? I wanted to go back to that for the nice edge it added to my look and the cool summer breeze. There was a miscommunication with my hairdresser so within second I ended up like this:

After a few tears I rationalized with “it will grow back, just a few weeks and it will be fine”. So we evened it out. And Ya know? It’s even starting to grow on me how short it is.

Bf ❤

I also decided to paint my nails something fun and bold and bright last night. I chose to go with ombre purple to pink…

** Please excuse all the cell phone and webcam shots, you’ll see prettier ones later**

Other changes in the works, besides new collaborations, I may be considering changing my blogging platform. I love the set up of wordpress and the ease of posting, but from a professional and monetary standpoint it’s not functional. If you’re a blogger do you have any other advice? Please let me know.

Girl Crush: Kate of Paniekscelencja

Girls get crushes on other girls, it happens. Especially when they have excellent fashion sense and just seem bad ass. One girl I’ve been “crushing” on is Kate from http://paniekscelencja.blogspot.com/ . She’s badass, gorgeous, and when I first found her blog I thought we had alot in common style wise! She’s classic with a punk edge…we’ve both been known to wear shredded black tops, spikes and studs, and leather (but who isnt). she’s like my overseas twin, right down to the hair, and the fact that although my ancestors were primarily from Germany, they had come from Poland prior to that. Differences, though include her bigger repertoire, her love of cross accessories, and her love of skulls!

Since she’s such an inspiration to me, I figured I’d post some inspiring shots from her blog and such. If you plan on reading her blog, please go through google so it can auto-translate for you as her entire site is in Polish. Enjoy, and go show her fabulous blog some love!

Again, check out her blog here!
