Classy Gal

One of my favorite things about myself is my versatility. Today, I flipped my hair, covered the shaved bit, threw on a more conservative summer dress and some sparkly jewelries, and called it a day. This alter ego is usually reserved for job interviews, important meetings, or court (oh, parking tickets), but today I just felt like being a little classier.

It’s funny how society can view and treat you differently based on your aesthetic sometimes…Scratch that, most of the time. If you’ve been following anything on the news lately, though, you may have seen the handsome mohawked man landing a robot on Mars, and that really got me thinking about how the times they are a-changing. So, for a good read if you’re curious or into the rebellious look but want to keep your job, please head on over to FemInspire and give my latest article a read!

Heat Wave

Back in the city that is my church, at long last. All is going well, save for a minor mishap of falling on my head. Also, let’s state the obvious, IT’S SO HOT. I wore this outfit Wednesday to a few meetings, hair up and staying cool. On hot days like this you NEED to protect your eyes from the sun, and why not with a stylish pair of sunglasses? SmartBuyGlasses offers great prices on amazing brands, including my favorite, Ray Bans! Similar to the ones I’m wearing in this post, these white wayfarers are a great summer pick. Other great brands they offer? D&G, Prada, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and everything else you could ever want, so be sure and check them out (and save 25%-30%!)

A bit of color on a Gray day

It’s been dull and gray for a few days now, here, and I’ve been going a little crazy! So this morning I decided to put all the color I wish was outside onto me.

JC+LF+Sushi

Last night I attended the launch of Jeffrey Campbell’s new bag line at a Fourth of July party at LF stores in SoHo.  I walked into free lemonade from girls wearing various pieces of American Flag apparel (totally IN right now, right?) and cupcakes, cake, and everything themed. I immediately found my fellow blogger friends amongst the plethora of associates mixed with the “too cool for school” teenage crowd.

After saying hello and getting accustomed to the situation I took a look around the store. to be honest, I was scared for my life. LF Stores is the epitome of force fed fashion, catering to the personality and personal taste-less followers of the Nylon bible. You’ve got your crop tops, American flag shorts, fringed “vintage” tees, and all-you-can-wear high waisted “vintage” Levi shorts. Oh, and did I mention the Jeffrey Campbell Lita’s?

Amongst the rubble of fashion vomit I managed to find the Sam Edelman heels I’ve been lusting after, as well as this gorgeous kimono.

Okay, so I don’t completely hate the shop. I think, piece by piece, they are some amazing finds. But for the most part, I’d rather not be force fed my daily dose of Nylon Magazine’s poolings all at once.

Anyway, so after waiting through two bag giveaways (one of which was won by my dear friend Monroe!), 6 of us decided to go for sushi at Noodle Zen on St. Mark’s.

Since I’d already had sushi for lunch, I opted for a vegetable tempura udon, which was quite good, especially alongside my orange chu-hi beverage.

Now for what I wore:

Misfits tee from Hot Topic (DIY/cutout myself)

Forever 21 shorts

Aldo Wedges

Gifted R&Em bag (can be found here)

Peter Grimm hat

TopShop bracelets

And now I leave you with this photobooth strip of Nicole and I making funny faces! ❤

Concrete Jungle

I channeled my inner safari-an today for a look with my sparsely used caged wedges and some elephant jewelry.

After work I took my safari to where the wild things (of New York) are, the Cooper Park dog park.

I’m really into animal jewelry from street vendors; you can always find such unique things whether you’re in SoHo, Chinatown, or St. Mark’s!

Cynthia Vincent

On one humid NYC spring day, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent hosted their Summer launch at their SoHo flagship store. With the help of blogger Saucy Glossie and her avid readers and other NYC bloggers, the night and event was a great success.

Wearing a dress from Target with shoes from Bakers. I had also been wearing my favored cream blazer from Forever 21, but the spring humidity deemed it unfit to keep on all day/evening.

I played dress up for a bit, in some great pieces from the Cynthia Vincent new collection, as seen below. I was definitely channeling my inner angelic side with these soft muted colors.

The pink dress was handed to me, told it’d look great on me and I must agree. It draped perfectly overly my self proclaimed awkwardly proportioned body. Though I love it, I think I’ll be heading back for the sheer blouse first; the asymmetrical hem is so on par with the current trends and would go well over a bolder bustier for subtle sexiness.

Now, for a few more images from the night:

How AMAZING are these sandals? The color/dye jobs are perfect.

The entire line is full of versatile styles and prints; good for classy day wear as well as boho chic inspired whilst being possible to by punked out or girlified. Or, for lack of better words, perfect for my wardrobe.  If any of that makes sense.

Anyway, be sure to check out the site here, or if you’re in NYC pop on by to their SoHo location at 253 Elizabeth Street between Houston and Prince.

Also, here are a few images I scanned from their lookbook!
