The suitcases are packed with swimsuits and sweaters, sunscreen and bug spray. I’m ready for warm beachy days and breezy nights. I’m feeling Parisian as I leave Southern Massachusetts, and though Scarborough is no Paris, I know I’m in for a good vacation. It’s finally feeling somewhat like fall…somewhat being it’s mid-October and still comfortable outside in a tee shirt. Okay, it’s hardly fall at all. But each breath has that fall air. The leaves are FINALLY beginning to change their shades and fall to litter our sidewalks. Evenings require a light jacket or sweater. Pumpkins are filling the deli’s. It’s exciting. All I want to do is go on long walks, listening to Death Cab for Cutie and the crunching of leaves.

One of my favorite things about NYC is the street vendor scarves. $5 a pop gets you a pashmina-silk scarf that’s surprisingly warm and durable. OR you can get 5 for $20…I always get one for my friends and family as an extra add on to Christmas gifts!
Also, I know a lot of people are still complimenting my “anti-french” manicure, and I’m still loving it each day. Point in case, the faint purple shade was a perfect match to the tonal stripes of this top!
Since my boyfriend is an out-of-towner I decided to bring him to the heart of my Williamsburg neighborhood, Bedford Ave. We started by perusing some shops and restaurants before sitting down to eat at Black Bird, a place which does NOT have a quality Foursquare presence, but proved itself in our books.
The menu reeked of self deprecating and realist humor, which created a more laid back ambiance amidst the uptight gorgeous crowd that was already eating and drinking their mimosas. Our drinks came within a matter of minutes and our food within 10-15. My Greek salad had refreshingly melt-in-your-mouth feta (contrary to the frozen kind I get at PAX on my usual lunch breaks) and Cody raved about his BlackBird signature cheeseburger. We also ordered the cheese fries, which were great and had a hint of spice to perfect the batch.
After relishing in our meals and drinks we headed north to Beacon’s Closet, for some selfishness (hey, I brought him to the Men’s section first!) but was too full of bladder crushing liquor to focus on shopping.
After a much needed bathroom break we decided to head south in the hopes of crossing the Brooklyn Bridge; sadly I forgot that is much too far from walking distance.

As previously stated, Thursday I attended an exclusive preview of the Rebecca Minkoff Resort collection, where no photos were allowed. After it, however, a few fellow bloggers and I went to my favorite eatery, Cafeteria. Mac n Cheese spring rolls and french fries and salad; YUM.

I also suggest trying their signature blackberry lemonade, or if you’re into alcohol as much as me, try adding a splash of vodka!
