Dust and Bones

Life and death, we won’t rest
Til we’re dust and bones
The clock keeps turning, the world keeps burning
It’s life and death, we won’t rest,
Til we’re dust and bones

Fun and flirty outfit that I wore on a recent date night! The handsome one and I had a post-office day happy hour at Dirty Martini bar before venturing to The Bombay Club for an Indian dinner. OHMYGOD the food was amazing. I had Saag paneer and garlic naan, a bottle of old vine zinfandel, followed by…mango creme brulee. Who ever thought such a beautiful thing could exist!?? Even though I prefer to shy away from dairy/creamy products, this one was totally worth it.
Post food-coma, we decided to head to a bar we’d read and heard about, Quill at the Jefferson Hotel. This intimate hotel bar was quite an experience; the staff was creative, friendly, and intelligent. The drinks were how does one say….divine? Z had one drink that came with a flaming orange peel…

Thankfully, I wore comfortable clothes that allotted for my food/drink baby and all of the walking for our adventurous evening.

You Know You Like it but it Drives You Insane

I’m no fool, no, I’m not a follower
I don’t take things as they come
If they bring me down
Life can be cruel if you’re a dreamer
I just wanna have some fun
Don’t tell me what can’t be done

I’m not at NYFW, but if I was, this is probably an outfit that I’d be wearing to Lincoln Center. Statement makingly cheeky, bold and trending. The sweatshirt is soft and warm, perfect for the wintery temps, even here in The District. And to blast through my headphones? Aluna George. I first heard her on my Songza, and then noticed here belting it out for the Rebecca Minkoff FW14 runway show. it was beautiful, she was beautiful, the collection was beautiful.

Don’t Be Scared That it’s a Harder Kind of Feel

Hold on tight, You must hold on unless you’re in it
Ease your mind, And when you think, you’re thinking clear _MG_6966_MG_7005_MG_7016_post_MG_7009 _MG_7017_MG_6961So when I first found this Burberry dupe shirt on PersunMall, I knew it was love. I mean, it’s no basking heaven of the real deal, but it was close enough for my budget strapped wallet! Since it arrived on fateful Saturday I’ve worn it with a number of wardrobe combinations, many of which are black and leather-like. Today’s pairing was of the more “flirty” variety, mixing the iconic print with a BCBG skirt and the perfect thrifted bag from TARI. Classic look, would be perfect for a date, no? And can you believe the shirt is only $17.99!? Get it here! _MG_6963

Wild Cat

IMG_5180IMG_5168Bubbles and Champagne were their names, they were a year older than me with a faint orange tabby the vets called “pink”. My babysitters, my headrests, my first taste of responsibility. Their 20 years of life in mine created quite the cat lady in me. Now, at nearly 24, I have my Maven: the omnipresent, unconditional, furry love of my life.

If my recent InstaGrams, or the entire tag/page on my Tumblr is any note, I’m clearly a cat lady, through and through. Don’t get me wrong, I love my pups! Especially bullies, whether it be pitties or frenchies; those wide smiles get me every time. But alas, nothing compares to the independence of a feline companion.
Now, getting back to my first love of Fashion, I’ve been loving the influx of feline-laden apparel! Charlotte Olympia velvet wedges were a glorious dream of mine, so when I found these killer dupes at Buffalo Exchange for $17 I knew it was my fate, even more when they were my perfect size (a rarity). I scooped those up faster than a cat attacking a pile of catnip! That specific cat-coma weekend I also ordered a black cat iPhone case off Amazon, and a cat skirt from Persun Mall. yea, I’m slightly obsessed, oh well, at least I look chic! Also wearing Leopard mini dress (with pockets!!) from TARI and a cardigan from Limited Too.

Lookit my little fattttie <33
What do you think of the feline trend invading fashion? Do you, or would you, wear cat-themed clothes and shoes!?

Event: TARI x FADGeorgetown

booth32So, like I previously mentioned, I’ve been hard at work for the past month or so working on an event for my current job. Well, last Friday night was the moment of truth. It was pouring rain; I mean POURING. The store had minimal foot traffic all day and by 5pm my nerves were a mess as the T-Time loomed closer. Would anyone show up? Would we make any sales? Would we even achieve a “party” atmosphere? I was a wreck.

While we got off to a semi-late start, the party picked up and my nerves were eased. Bloggers, media, and shoppers alike wandered into my store, taking the eCruiser straight to our door. Everyone gawked at the bumping soiree, while other events were canceled or subpar. It was an overwhelming experience, knowing all my hard work had paid off and then some.

Booth4 Booth7 booth28 booth35 booth38The fashionable event was hosted by E of District of Chic and Krystin of BeLoudBeYou, two fabulously sweet and oh so stylish local DC bloggers I’m so happy to have had the chance to work with. Ofcourse, the TARI team was there including our owner, manager, and operations manager, Tamika of MyDesignerDreams. With complimentary cupcakes, tea, and cocktails, as well as sweet tunes by my friend Caleb L’ Etoile and the lovely photobooth images by my friend Brian, not to mention my beau and his BFF Twinning and Bartending, there was plenty of fun to be had!

I wore an H&M dress with H&M booties, instead of my planned cream and white Erin Fetherston dress with cream platform pumps…somehow black seemed much more fitting for the weather, so no regrets.

Feel free to check out the rest of the event photos here, and be sure to ‘Like’ the TARI page! groupAtBar sahrazanderwill2
