I Never Knew That I Could Love So Hard

Before I ever met you
I never knew that I liked to be kissed for days

A quick fun look I wore to a recent local blogger happy hour, BloggersScene. A little Mexican/Frida Kahlo meets modern trends, and a perfect menage of vintage and modern textiles.

This beautiful, gorgeous handbag is the product of internet friendships turned IRL. Linell Ellis, local handbag designer, and I started talking on twitter before I realized she was local and we decided to meet for real. After showing me her latest handbag collection I was in love; everything is made from fine quality leather and metal, the “leopard” is dyed calf hair, and her logo is hand stamped with gold foil. Even just touching one of her masterpieces you can tell the care and thought that went into the design and product. Being able to take home one of these babies was a dream, even just for the weekend! As I eluded on InstaGram, picking which one was the hardest, especially with so many stunning clutches and practical cross body bags.

Oh Baby, There’s No Hesitation

I’ve said it before, I will say it again…and again and again. One of my favorite, vain things I love about myself is my versatility. Sure, most days I’ve got my shaved side showing, some days I go a step farther and flip down my septum ring. Then, there are the days I hide my punk facade with dainty gold and pearls. This cardigan was a gift, one I was very apprehensive about, but as soon as I figured out a way to “edge it out” it was hard to take off! I have worn it (on a number of occasions) with this maxi skirt, but have also thrown it over some high waisted black jeans with some combat style boots.

I shine, the city never looked so bright

This is a super fun, pattern playing look that I wore recently to the grand opening of Calypso St Barth’s in Georgetown! I love the fashion forward yet office style feel of the look, and the comfort factor was a major plus. The ensemble was also great for the amazing networking and mingling at the event; shout out to the lovely new ladies I met!

She’s The Giggle At A Funeral

The Only Heaven I’ll Be Sent To Is When I’m Alone With You
The weather has been nearing frigid lately, at least compared to two weeks ago when temps were still in the 90s. I keep finding myself in a uniform of a button front shirt layered with a sweater or jacket, or both!
I put together this monochromatic, print playing look for work; casual, cool, with just enough edge to feel like myself. Though I still can’t believe I’ve conquered my fear of clashing prints AND my fear of dressing conservatively. DC has a grip in me, but it’s not TOO tight! 20131027-182521.jpg20131027-182617.jpg20131027-182642.jpgjeans from TJMaxx

20131012-181412.jpgCasual rainy Saturday look mixing elements of glittering glam with grunge (oh, how I love a good alliteration). I’ve been so busy with work lately and I needed a chill look. Pics of my event from last night will be up soon featuring some amazing people!

We Know That Our Hearts Are Just Made Out of Strings

IMG_7744IMG_7755
A second post from the whirlwind that has been my settling into life in the DMV! It’s been tedious…It’s been work. I’ve been unpacking, working, traveling, trying my best to explore and socialize, et cetera. What I’m craving most? A nice, relaxing evening involving a chill bean bag (remember those!?) and a movie with a bottle of wine, or a champagne cocktail. Alas, there’s much to be explored as I’m on the hunt for the perfect blog photographer, group of friends, brunch restaurant, lunch spot, dinner diggs, quality man; amongst maintaining my life at my new “home” with friends and new job. Confused/overwhelmed? So am I. These photos were shot by an area photographer, Kevin, who’s work can be found on his site here. He’s got a great eye and some great ideas, so I’m hoping you’ll be seeing more of his work up here!

Ugly Sweater Season

Welcome to December; the month of holiday parties, ugly sweater clad whether it’s the theme or not. I was asked to model for a poster for an upcoming Ugly Sweater party by the talented Greg Easton, and jumped at the fun opportunity! I borrowed the sweater vest from my mom, and I love her, but she has quite the collection of hideous holiday themed knits. At least they’re fun and keep us jolly and laughing!
