Power Dressing

There’s something powerful about a classic blazer; no matter the size, shape, or what you pair it with you feel powerful in one. I found this vintage Escada blazer on Ebay and mannn I feel like a future CEO every time I throw it on. The 90s style blazer is a perfect throwback brought new again as it’s akin to the modern “boyfriend blazer” style. Pairing it with jeans and fun shoes make it perfect for a professional yet trendy casual Friday look.

I Was A Hot Mess In My Sunday Best

Turn on that smoke machine
magic and make believe

This song lately is my jam! So good! And so is my denim jacket (good, and my jam). I’ve got to say, this influx of spring is making me so happy; the sun is shining and if you follow me on social media you see that the happy hours are happening, the yard is being tended to, brunch is being enjoyed outside, and the animals are enjoying the sun as well. Vitamin D for everyone!

Here’s another look from my trip to South Africa (I promise newer looks coming soon!). I wore this lacy tank and cotton denim to dinner at Kloof Street House, which was my top meal of the entire trip. I enjoyed some vegan “meat”loaf and local wine and cocktails by candlelight, with the love of my life. While Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate the nights were chilly and warranted a light jacket. The perfect casual yet put together accoutrement to my look.

What’s your favorite thing to wear to a warm weather date night?

I Never Knew That I Could Love So Hard

Before I ever met you
I never knew that I liked to be kissed for days

A quick fun look I wore to a recent local blogger happy hour, BloggersScene. A little Mexican/Frida Kahlo meets modern trends, and a perfect menage of vintage and modern textiles.

Enjoy The Ride Now, Baby I’m the Pilot

cold
It’s winter and oh so cold. I took a day trip out to Baltimore’s Eastern shore for an upcoming Self Date Sunday post. While the sight of the sea was just what the doctor ordered and the facial was just what my dry winter skin needed, the ocean breeze was still harsh. Never the less, I stayed cozy and comfortable for this look for my spa day.

I Don’t Need Nobody to Tell Me Who To Be

Ready to sting, I am young and free

Moving is stressful, hellish. It takes way longer than expected. You find some things, lose some others. While I’ve apparently lost my favorite fall jeans (the perfect aubergine hue), I’ve found a box of vintage quilted bags I used in college, including this one in my absolutely favorite color in the world. Also fun about moving? Exploring the new ‘hood. These photos were shot by the Monroe St Market, a series of small businesses, artist shops, and restaurants. How amazing are the giant strung lights!? Z and I have been absolutely LOVING going out to eat around here, and with a new spot opening up each month there’s always more to try!

Love More and Worry Less

I’m ready to transition into fall. With Sheer lengthy layers, black denim, and leathered booties, the crisp season is underway. Shot during the last days of the beach season in Pine Point, ME by Z, these shots encapsulate breezy September. While I’m already missing the sand beneath my feet, I’m ready to get fall underway and am excited for the Halloween season! Give me all the pumpkin flavors!

She Don’t Know The Gravity She Holds

she walking so fast
Oh, our lady
she don’t know how she going
She owns the eyes as she flies right through the sound
Moving her body all around town

She Don't Know the Gravity She Holds

Leopard print and cut out heels with a dash of youthful edge; a perfect look for a summery soiree. This dress is a thrifted favorite- a leopard strapless dress with the ever-coveted pockets that makes a great closet addition as it’s versatile, just like me! It can be dressed up and dressed down depending on the mood, and for this look the mood is downtown chic. Worn to a shopping blogger event on a 90 degree day it was perfect, especially for the sunset walk home as the temperature dropped. Hello Summer, Welcome, I’ve missed you.

Staying in my Play Pretend Where the Fun ain’t got no End

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It’s finally spring! Time to say hello to bare skin (and welcome back, tattoos!) Crop tops, short skirt, sunglasses….and let’s not forget the current “it” bucket bag! I’m so so in love with this bag, care of Moda Luxe. Buttery vegan leather in a perfectly bold hue, and it can be dressed up or down; hello versatility! I paired it here with a fun vibed outfit; cheeky vacation and flamingo printed skort I got at the Buffalo Exchange 40th anniversary party, along with the crop top. Topped it off with some pink accessories, and I’m ready for a sunny day!

This beautiful, gorgeous handbag is the product of internet friendships turned IRL. Linell Ellis, local handbag designer, and I started talking on twitter before I realized she was local and we decided to meet for real. After showing me her latest handbag collection I was in love; everything is made from fine quality leather and metal, the “leopard” is dyed calf hair, and her logo is hand stamped with gold foil. Even just touching one of her masterpieces you can tell the care and thought that went into the design and product. Being able to take home one of these babies was a dream, even just for the weekend! As I eluded on InstaGram, picking which one was the hardest, especially with so many stunning clutches and practical cross body bags.
