Chenoa

Holy Toledo it’s humid (as you can tell by my frizzled hair)! I’ve been slightly sick and staying indoors as best I can but the warmth is so nice outside. Just, the humidity… Oh, we’re starting August off on the right foot! Thankfully, I’m wearing the most perfect summer dress, lightweight and comfortable, and totally on trend with it’s tribal print and hi-low/mullet skirt!

Weekend in The Mountains

Now that all my NYFW posts are done, it’s time I post those pictures from my three days away. My silly cousin decided to get married down in Pennsylvania smack dab in the middle of fashion week, but I must say that although I know I missed some amazing shows, taking the time to get away was quite relieving. Here’s a few random pictures from my adventures and the wedding!

The road trip down:

Yuengling Brewery Tour:

Now, I’m not a fan of beer, but my parents are so they thought it would be fun to take a tour of America’s Oldest Brewery. Not going to lie, it was pretty cool. I even tasted some of the beer at the end! Octoberfest, yum (it’s not even in bars or stores yet!)

The Wedding!

YES, my hair matched my dress (from Express). I tried to stay classy, drinking my Twisted Teas, and attempting to last all night in my Bakers heels. My family eventually broke out the hula hoops and before long it was dark and I was driving a Jeep through the mountains lost for 2 hours with drunk uncles in the back. Not going to lie, it was a great time!

Anyway, the next morning it was back on the road to NYC and all those busy shows.

Borrow the Boyfrand’s

Boyfriend jeans have been making a steady climb to the fashion hierarchy of trends. Many people though, it has been brought to my attention, have difficulty finding the right pair and knowing how to wear them.

First off, finding a pair. I got my first pair actually from a boyfriend! My high school best friend and short term boyfriend lent me a pair of his jeans after I saw Rihanna’s Pon De Replay video. I had a fantastic style idea for them, which worked well, and I ended up keeping the jeans and shamefully still have them to this day. Mine were American Eagle; durable, comfortable, thick. I still view them as the perfect pair. If you prefer to shop in the actual female department and get a more feminine look, I suggest starting out with Levi’s or Gap. Although I personally have difficulty finding a good fit for me at Gap, they pride themselves on quality and extreme comfort, as well as an array of “styles” and fits. If you’re looking for something high end with a brand name label, 7 for all Mankind and Diesel make some amazing distressed boyfriend jeans. These run up to about $200 or can be as low as $60 if you can find a sweet deal.

If you’re looking for cheaper, both H&M and Forever 21 have their own boyfriend jeans. Forever 21’s has only two styles. One a dark wash for $22.80, the other a lighter wash with pyramid studs for $29.80. According to my dear friend Lauren, have a strange fit for her. You have to have the right body and type for their jeans. H&M however, are my favorite. Cheap, chic, and totally durable and more fit-friendly than Forever 21. They come in a wider array of washes and shades, but slightly less embellished.

Now, how to wear them. I see so many people trying to rock this trend, but they seem to do it wrong. My personal opinion is that you need to wear boyfriend jeans in a feminine, yet “effortless cool” way. If you want to wear them with sneakers, make sure they are low top and low key. Keds, Converse low tops, and some vans tend to look best. High top shoes just look funky with these jeans, a bit too butch of a look, in my opinion. Flats look okayyy with this trend, but do something fun, like a peep toe! If you want to wear heels, I think a simple stiletto or pump works best. While looking for a top is where you can add the frills and girly fun! Think a sequin tank and ruffled or solid pastel cardigan. Since the jeans are baggy, try not to do a loose shirt or you run the risk of looking over layered and under caring.
